Extortion, mainstream businesses let us trick you into thinking if you don't purchase a .xxx domain that someone else will and put naked vaginas on the .xxx version of your company domain. (just like everyone else is doing for all the other tld's you didn't buy. Go check out your company domain for .info .co .us etc, and see how you got fucked for not buying those as well )

Extortion, adult businesses if you don't buy your .xxx domain then someone else will and ruin your business and steal all of your traffic.

The fact of the matter is very very very few mainstream companies are going to be tricked into paying to block it and only a small amount of adult companies will fall for it.

The problem with Stuarts pricing points is that they are so high that once you get past the few idiots who feel the need to register .xxx for their adult domains, and you eliminate the 10 - 20K of the best domains, no one else is going to pay $100 + for a mediocre .xxx domain name that would never see any type in traffic on a .com much less would it on a .xxx Now if they were priced at $10 - $20 a piece he would probably have millions of registrations and almost everyone with an adult .com would buy the .xxx Greedy Stuart, finally gets things approved and he is going to fuck it up for himself with a really high pricing point.
people who own the .com's of those domains should sue (if they want them). i really have a hard time believing that shilling bought all those but stranger things have happened. edit..wow looking up the whois it appears to be true. why would they sell it to a guy who just parks domains and does nothing at all with them? dumb ass move on their part. sounds like they are hard up for cash, or they think no one is going to buy them.

as for not getting past the cost, lol, people are having a hard enough time making moeny with their ages established .com's let alone some new tld that most people haven't a clue about.

i also found this quite funny

"ICM Registry had realized that an extremely high proportion of the top 200 adult keywords in the .COM space were in the hands of professional ?domainers? and were being used for paid parking and/or pay-per-click advertising programs rather than for fully developed websites. ICM Registry felt that this was not ideal for consumer satisfaction and is determined to make .XXX a vibrant and content rich domain

Frank Schilling, owner of possibly the world?s largest portfolio of domain names, had never previously participated in any other new TLD launch. However, Schilling excitedly negotiated a deal with ICM Registry for some premium generic domain names such as live.xxx, hot.xxx and free.xxx in a seven figure deal out of the nearly $4 million that ICM Registry has received during this Founders program period. Schilling is now partnering with other notable adult companies to develop impressive new sites, ultimately contributing to the increased value of the adult eco-system."

Gee, thanks Lawley for putting all the best xxx domains right back into hands of ONE professional domainer who does nothing but park. we'll see if the sites are ever actually developed or not. i wouldn't bet on it, or their definition of developed will just be one of those minisite type things from Shiillings parking company, internettraffic.com.

Any country that somehow blocks porn that's not on a .XXX domain will be a fringe country with fascist internet rules. Not concerned.

Google is the last thing to be concerned about, they don't need an easy filter, they have that stuff figured out already.

I seriously see no threats, and don't see how .xxx adds even $1 to how much is spent on porn sites. It's just a net loss. They're not producing new customers, helping convert customers, none of it.

Pure extortion - and voluntary extortion at that.

The internet is full of websites owned by people who are very naïve and will swallow needing to block a dirty pornographer from using the .xxx version of their site. I regularly have to stop people falling for the emails trying to sell them the foreign version(s) of their domains and don't see this as much different.

its much different because of the price. fools usually can't afford to spend $100 - $300 without thinking twice. If it was just a couple bucks, I would agree a lot of people would fall for it because they wouldn't think twice about spending that much, but the prices ICM are charging is a lot of money to most people. And the people who can easily spend that much typically aren't go to fall for stupid shit (hence why they still have money and *could* afford it, because they don't fall for stupid shit all the time.)

The owner of 33 domains names will cry when .porn, .sex and others will leave.
The .xxx is just the first tld created following the liberalization of extensions.

You are all missing the upside, these 33 domains means $330 going towards IFFOR to tell him how to regulate his site.

The mainstream guys who see .$$$ in .XXX will rush into create adult websites, either partnering with existing adult players or try it on their own. Its just like with restaurants, everyone thinks they can make it work, but in the end, its a whole lot of work, lots of stealing from employees, and ends up failing except for the lucky few.

right now, "responsible" people are buying the .xxx domains with their hopes of making big money..... but wait til anyone can register and you will get the riff-raff and the unscrupulous webmasters who will put the malware and the bad stuff on .XXX domains, and that will be a great test of ICM/IFFOR to see if they can mange these devil cats.

Sounds like the guy who bought the 33 domains isn't going to build a site on them nor does he care how its regulated. He is going to sit on them and hope to sell them for more in the future.

I doubt many if any of the mainstream guys that buy a .xxx will develop it. Most, if not all of the people who buy a .xxx domain that are not already in adult will be domainers, who will just throw up a parking page at best while they try to flip the domain.

i believe what they are going to do is lease out the domains to some companies and generate a revshare from it.
