delete everything & install windows 7 again, whats the best method? - GoFuckYourself.com

i got a 2nd hand laptop from someone who, ofcourse, first cleaned it up and did a fresh windows 7 install on it before i got it. I noticed starting it up it took about twice as long as my other laptop, even though this one has better specs. So i did a fresh windows 7 install again myself, with the standard method: Boot from windows 7 cd and in the install menu i clicked format. Formatting the old win7 took a fraction of a second, so i think it isnt thoroughly formatted this way. Now the booting takes even longer. Probably the old windows files dont get deleted with this method. I looked around for guides in google but all i get is this standard method. I want to completely delete everything first. Anyone knows about guides how to do this?

get bootable xp and format disk from there first, then insert win7 boot cd and install fresh version

I've got 2 bootable xp disks, everything is fine at first but 1 minute in i get a blue error screen that it cant be run. So that doesnt work

If you want to completely delete everything first Google Darik's Boot and Nuke. Your slow boot issue is probably either a missing driver or a hardware issue. Are you reinstalling from the laptop manufacturers disc or just a generic windows disc?

I still had a killdisk bootdisk from a while back, so i erased the hard drive completely with it and installed win7 on it again and it's allright now. Still boots a bit slower than my other laptop which i find kind of strange but win7 itself is fast. It does have 2 missing drivers btw, for an unknown device in device control so not sure how to figure out what that is.
And i will update the BIOS too.

It could be because xp installer can't support latest sata hdd without drivers.
Maybe it's possible to switch on hdd compatiblity in bios. Not sure though...
