No. There has never been any plan to lobby to make .XXX mandatory and regulated.
I presdict in 3 years time, very few sites will be .xxx.

The adult biz is dying as it is.

A lot of people buy .com as they are (a) cheap, (b) well known.

The consumer does not care about .xxx and never will. You can waffel as much as you want about consumer benafites, but, no one cares.

Its likly a lot will panick buy, or buto try to sell on. I have seen this with .mobi and that is now dead.

Today I see sites closing, rather than open. A lot of people are dropping domain names, rather than buying.

.xxx would have sold well 8 years ago. But today far too late.

Its rather amuzing to see people try to push .xxx as it reminds me of small businesses trying to sell products no one wants, yet they keep on going.

Logic sugests .xxx will fail, for several reasons. (1) too expensive. If they had been the same cost as .com I may have got a few just to see. But at the cost they are, no chance. )2) far too few customers. .xxx is adult, so that cuts out non adult. Then when you consider most adult sites are free tgp, blogs, tubes and so on. The whole point is they are cheap to set up. So .xxx makes it pointless to buy. (3) Afilliates will not promote .xxx sites. OK a few might, but so far I have only seen 1 .xxx site I thought worth promoting, but I will not. The thought of promoting a .xxx site makes me sick. In fact I have said I will drop any system that has even one .xxx site.

So as I say give it 3 years and .xxx will be no more considered than .mobi.

In fact lets be honest, .xxx has no benafits, just negatives.

Sure some will panick buy.

What I find amuzing is the .xxx bribes, how they have given .xxx to a lot of people (from the looks of it free) to encurage people to use.xxx. Everything about .xxx just feels desperate.

Of course the chaps behind .xxx probably presumed that .xxx was a licence to print money. Charge a fortune, and people will still buy. But I suspect those behind .xxx are not thinking 'oh cricky'.

A lot were against having .xxx, but i have come to the conclusion its great. Its great as I belive that .xxx will fail. And as such its the best way to kill it.

.xxx will fail.

It's Stuart Lawley and the ICM that have come up with the idea that .xxx will be required use certain metatags.

IFFOR baseline policy:
D. Labeling Requirements

All registrants in the sTLD must label their .xxx sites, and any site irrespective of top level domain to which such sites are automatically redirected, using an IFFOR approved label.

You're saying IFFOR/ICM doesn't require access to password protected areas.
The IFFOR Policies documents say that you do require access to password protected areas.

Or do you not consider "password protection" to be a "means" to limit access to certain content?
If that's the case, there's no way for IFFOR/ICM to monitor an entire site for compliance with IFFOR policies (including the anti cp one) and the ICMs statement about guaranteeing that .xxx domains are free from cp become meaningless.
Access to password protected areas is not a requirement, and password protection is not a 'technical means to defeat.' We monitor what we can, and have tip lines for what we can't.

I don't believe that is necessarily the case. I do believe that there has been a distinct lack of information available directly to the Adult community in recent months, that hasn't been surrounded by drama of some sort. We'd like to fix that.

It would seem that most of those buying .xxx are NON adult. Simply firms buing to prevent cyber squotting.

sales in adult would seem very low.

I'm sure that in some cases that will be true. In the meanwhile, I'll continue to make the effort.

If there was an "Occupy Porn" movement, XXX would probably be one of the most talked about issues.

Over and above piracy, do you think?

The system will offer micropayment opportunities and will be offered exclusively to .XXX domain owners providing very competitive rates.

How convenient for you.

I didn't say you were Mallick, I said it sounds like something he would do.

And I didn't understand where you could draw the comparison, but I appreciate your clarifying.

Yes, there is a micropayment system in development, and will be using payment partners that will be instantly recognizable. No high risk offshore structures or banks, but an onshore, full regulated and licensed offering which will mean full capital adequacy requirements, as per regulations.

Exciting isn't it?

I can't help but believe knowing who we are talking to would help a lot. As it stands, we can only believe you are associated with ICM. The fact that you gave me a different response than Tony Farrow did to the same question makes me wonder who is right. Since you won't reveal who you are, your responses have to be taken with a grain of salt.

Sorry.

Soon they will add in fineprint in 1 of the many rules and regulations that all content you upload is free to use for .xxx company.
And you will never get your copyrite back just like facebook does with your pictures.

You are more than welcome to email me at the address in my signature to verify that it won't bounce.

Can you tell me what the conflicted response is? Re: McAfee? I've been trying to answer a lot of questions, so I'm not certain if you mean one of those in general or the one that you posed directly. I'd be more than happy to get clarification for you wherever you find conflict.
