Adult Toys -- Does the name of your store matter?

Wondering if you think all things being equal if the name of the store makes a difference in conversion rates of sex toy stores?

Basically something like an explicit name vs an ambiguous one.

like:

"Hot Anal Toys" vs. "GH Novelties"

I have a couple affiliate sites where the layouts are the same, the traffic is the same but the conversion rate is slightly better on non descriptive named one.

Even with "Discreet Billing and Shipping" labeled all over both sites. I would think that some people immediately think that "Hot Anal Toyz" would appear on their credit card statement and that would dissuade them from purchasing.

Anyone with thoughts on this?

I would think so, otherwise all those good domains would be worthless. Think like your customer would, do you feel comfortable purchasing online with all your personal info from 6 word domains or domains with hyphens?

"Hot Anal Toys" vs. "GH Novelties" I would purchase from GH Novelties, I don't need the UPS guy to know my business.

Yes it is important. The name will not make or break you, but it factors into the overall branding, associated site æsthetics/design and the subconscious opinion and experience the visitor is expecting to have.

Hot Anal Toys is suggestive (they are "hot") and identifies your primary line of products ("anal toys"). This is a great name for a feeder site, or if your primary moving anal related items.

GH Novelties is a name better used for discrete billing, or when you are a wholesaler/distributor.

Take "Fleshlight" for example. They have made a fuck load of money just by the name and comparison of the product being promoted.. I would say the name is a very big deal in the industry today. Another example would be a nicotine mint product called " CigRX " it sounds like Cigerettes and is composed of something in the same product catogory. If you would like some creative ideas just hit me up and let me know
