Just got the new 27" iMac with Thunderbolt ports (allowing for 2 extra monitors). Upgraded the RAM to 16GB and I absolutely love it. I've always been skeptical, but must admit it was worth every penny. The transition wasn't nearly as tough as I thought it was going to be.

My boy has the 15 inch Macbook Pro and I love swiping it. It's so fast and pretty. That said, I love my 21.5 inch iMac too... Macs in general are awesome.

The warranty service is sublime. They replace things you don't even ask for like the battery. They really won me over with that alone.

I just don't understand the idea of towers anymore. I switched to imacs/laptops back in 2004 and got rid of my last tower in 2006. It just seems like such an archaic idea these days.

I could see a tower and not think it was weird if I was walking into a studio or something and there was computers running some video rendering, but anything else and I'd think the people were behind the times.

BUT, with that said. I've owned a mac pro and it was nice (err. it was a powermac back then). They're powerful. They're not mobile at all though and they're heavy as alllllll hell. They're noisy too and get pretty bad after time - sounds like an airplane is taking off after a couple years.

I guess you don't need a tower if all you do is check your email, go on Facebook, and try to look pretty in all the hip cafes.

I have an 8-core Mac Pro with 32GB of RAM (I think?). It's pretty bulletproof.

I have one that is one of the early Quad Cores. I got it in 2008 or so.

It still runs nicely, but as I've mentioned before it sits next to an HP that I picked up for about 1/4 the price that is running a OSX Lion. They are set up identical and I often have to check to see what machine I'm on. They are indistinguishable from one another.

I see we share the same lifestyle (except I generally do 6 to 8 days a week, lol).

What can I say? I am an unrepentant and incurable Mac head.

My most recent Mac Pro is nearly the same as EdgeProd's, with dual 2.4Ghz, 8 core processors, and 32Gb Ram. I also have an older quad core that has served me nobly for years, and is my primary rendering machine.

Planning to get a new Macbook Pro hopefully early next year - the fully configured version loaded with RAM and a solid state drive runs just under $4k, in case anyone wants to buy me an XXXmas present (to paraphrase Mae West, I promise I've been good - and when I've been bad, I've been really good).

I have the last model of Mac Pro( not the current one).. and I love it.. it was expensive ( around 3,200 ) but that was a couple of years ago.. but they are worth ever penny..

I updated the memory, and drives and video cards and it is screaming fast.. I also have a Watercooled Overclocked super fast PC next to my mac.. I used to for windows programs..

for 90% of my work I am on a mac.. and love it.. It used to run hackintosh on it.. but when once in a while when you update os x the hackintosh doesn't update.. so I just said fucked it.. I will use the mac to do mac work.. and I will use the PC to the Windows work... and keep my life simple.

Also have a mac mini-they are great for people just starting to learn mac os x..

In late 2008 I decided to give The Dark Side a try and bought a 3.2 ghz dual quad-core Mac Pro, added a hard drive (newegg) and beefed up the ram (Crucial, I'm not stupid) got Final Cut Studio and sat down to switch my workflow from PC to Mac based.

Within a month I used Bootcamp to install Windows on it.

Today it sits all day encoding video... in Windows.

most expensive PC I've ever bought

Because you couldn't get used to Final Cut Pro?

I have a imac 27/i7/16GB ram (2010 model) and my brother has a macpro quad. Both machines so nice. For less space on the desk I choose the Imac. He had the pro with 30" dell monitor.

Yeah, so did HP with an old laptop of mine with a refurb battery, along with the hard drive. Both of which were fine and I lost EVERYTHING on that HD. Sent in for them to fix the power plug port.

Awesome how that works.
