Very interesting thing popped up on my Mozilla today (yes, it has to do with tube sites)

https://donate.mozilla.org/page/s/SOPA?source=snippet

The internet we know and love is at risk. Help save it.

Right now, the U.S. Congress is considering legislation that could profoundly affect the future of the internet. It's called the Stop Online Piracy Act.

The fact is that this legislation as written won't stop piracy. But it would pose a serious threat to social media and user generated content sites (like YouTube) across the internet. It could also undermine some of the core technical systems underlying the internet, creating new cybersecurity risks.

As a non-profit committed to keeping the web open and accessible to all, Mozilla wants to ensure that this legislation does not jeopardize the foundational structure of the Internet.

So we've done two things so far:

1) Earlier this week, we wrote a joint letter with Facebook, Google, Twitter, eBay, Yahoo! and other technology companies publicly opposing this legislation -- and placed ads in various influential newspapers across the country.

2) We also joined other organizations in a day of action on November 16th -- when hearings were being held in the U.S. House -- to draw attention to the issue and get people to contact their representatives.

But these are only the first steps toward ensuring that the proposed legislation does not pass as currently written.

If you'd like to get involved, please sign up using the form on the right. We'll be in touch with ways to help in this campaign along with our other efforts to defend and improve the Web.

If you are not in the U.S., please pass this page along to anyone you know in the States -- and I'd encourage you to sign up anyway, to stay informed about what we're up to.

Yep, adult webmasters choose the opposite of their best interests at every turn.

Holy shit dude, this bill would end the internet as we know it. It would be a severe restriction on speech and would fuck everything up. Know what other sites take user submitted content?

1) http://www.gfy.com

2) http://www.wikipedia.org

Only a pure fucking idiot would support this bill. Banning porn all together would also stop porn producers from getting ripped off, want to do that too?

I would say stupidity is not having the brain power to comprehend a pretty straightforward bill that the vast majority of the world is against. I mean it's not like this hasn't been discussed to death all over the internet, it's a piece of shit bill that would be devastating if it passed.

You adapt or die, you are the one so panicked that you are calling for a nuclear bomb to kill an ant colony.

I fear nothing by the way, I will have fun observing either way.

That's not what I said, that is what was automatically inserted into my Mozilla browser when I opened it.

I'm all for anything that gets people opening their wallets again for porn again. It's too god damn easy for kids to access anyway. Google "creampie" if you don't believe me.

Everyone wants the good old days back but this aint it. All they would have to do to is make it ok for you to sue anyone that has posted your copyrighted material and / or add regular old criminal charges that increase with each concurrent incident. Instead they introduce a bill that will let the goverment pull the plug on whoever they want.

If you came along and posted a funny picture to GFY that is copyrighted should GFY have to manually open that post, try to figure out if the image is copyrighted, approve or deny the post based on that and hope like hell they got it right? There is a reason that most of the innovators online do not want this to pass and it's because it's complete bullshit.

I don't think that's it really. The movie and recording industry lobyists are the ones pushing for this and they don't care if it does shut down the whole internet because they'll just sell more music and theatre tickets anyhow.

I would fully support no more content theft for the sake of money if it weren't tied to some crap law and if it would matter anyhow. There are already groups working to set up darknets so they can't be shut down in case the government ever gets too regulatory of the internet, that kind of stuff would be going on full blast the day this passed. Hell Google has enough fiber laying around to offer their own internet for free and they could bypass the control the government has on domain names immediately.

since when is a bill that is disguised as an anti piracy bill, but really is a bill to be able to censor everything the government wants to censor (like china), a step in the right direction?

funny thing is youtube is so full of copywritten material LOL

i always laugh at how people cry if a tube site has a 2 min clip of a blowjob scene they own, but people dont seem to care that youtube has 10 min clips from hollywood movies. pat1,part2,part3 and so on...

its all the same shit, a tube is a tube. a 2 min clip stolen from a movie is a 2 min clip whether its adult or mainstream Kill Bill.

We'll we're living in times when everything that can be digitalized can get and gets stolen on a massive level.

One thing is for sure - the definition of copyright and copyright protection needs to be changed in order to reflect this. Somebody is losing a lot of money and porn is only a minimal fraction of the total volume, although its wild west environment may sure help speeding up its downsizing.

Logically - the first step would be to put more responsibility on the site owners publishing "any" content on internet in order to make profit, this would also have to be respected on all levels - cooperating billers, ad networks, hosting providers etc. otherwise it won't work.

Not so easy to imagine in the post Viacom vs. Youtube era.

The problem is that you are looking at this from the old school angle. "I paid $2000 for this content and someone stole it, they are costing me money!"

They didn't pay $2000 and they are diluting how much you'll make on $2000 worth of content, sure. Based on the OLD way of doing business.

Problem being, the new way of delivering content has been tested in mainstream and adult and results are in. If it's worth paying for content, putting up a site, billing $30 per month and paying affiliates a good revshare or PPS it is also worth buying content, throwing it up on a free tube that you own, upselling a CHEAP membership to see more of that content or letting them buy an entire scene or group of scenes for a few bucks.

In the near future the content you pay $2000 for and end up clearing $10,000 on won't be enough to break even because the new delivery methods will be utilized by smart companies regardless of what the laws are and you'll have the same kind of competition anyhow.

Yes they need to stop people from outright stealing your stuff but it will not be the magic bullet that fixes this industry like most assume.

without law there is chaos, which the net has shown. You have very smart people ducking the system so you need laws with real teeth. Also the law that gets approved is not set in stone. It can and probably will change over time.

It's so sweet that people STILL think SOPA gives two shits about porn.

Keep drinking the RIAA koolaid man!

Anyway, this is all moot now as there is no way this bill will pass. No way in hell.

Like the Patriot Act? Broad laws are garbage and always have been. They will change minor things but the vast majority will stay the same for a decade or more. Ready to wait that long to save a business model that is dying either way?

But that's not the point, of course you need to make money in any environment and waiting for someone else to solve your problems never works.

But if you own a copyright to something you should have the right to fully monetize it as well as the right to protect its copyright, which of course goes hand to hand.

None of which even remotely works at the moment, and I'm not talking about a criminal offense (people will always steal and you can't stop piracy) - I'm talking about a loophole in the existing legal system (DMCA) that enabled the new "standard" of not having to care about copyright on the web.

None of which even remotely works at the moment, and I'm not talking about a criminal offense (people will always steal and you can't stop piracy) - I'm talking about a loophole in the existing legal system (DMCA) that enabled the new "standard" of not having to care about copyright on the web.
You know this and I know this but go read the past posts from those that are most vocal about this. They really think that stopping piracy is going to fix their dying business model. It would patch it up for a bit, but the ones getting rich on stolen content would start buying and getting rich on that.

I have never thought and will never think that it is OK to steal someones work. Clickcash put me in their top affiliate preview back in 2001 or 2002 and 100+ websites stole my pages, content and all. I made up to $1000 per week sometimes from them forgetting to change one of the 5 or 6 links out on my page, yes they were that stupid. I should have sued them and could have at the time but I didn't want to go into a Louisiana griping because my porn was stolen.

Several points have been made here but to summarize I think stealing is bad, copyrights last too long and no law is going to fix the paysite model like most here believe. Three different issues, people keep trying to say I'm pro piracy because of these comments and nothing could be further from the truth.
