I call BULLSHIT !!!!!! the way he put the turkey in to begin with, is what's causing the flames, probably overfilled the oil just to make a point.

Good thing he didnt tip the pot with the pole trying to put the turkey in.

The oil is spilling out all over,is causing the fire. I have fried plenty of turkeys, to see that it's all contrived. Not that I would ever fry a frozen one.

Try this little experiment: Heat a tablespoon of oil in a pot or frying pan. Drop a little water into the oil once it's fucking hot. What happens??

Reminds me of this time I was drunk and tried to fry frozen shrimp in oil. That shit immediately caught on fire and flames hit the ceiling. Scared the shit out of me.

I once threw a frozen french fry into a pan of hot oil, and it instantly turned into a column of flames that shot to the ceiling. Could have ended very badly, and it wasnt even at my house. I was 16 at the time and house sitting for some friends of my parents.

Agreed the oil causes the fire. Let's consider what causes the oil to spew out.
Let's say there is a total of only one cubic inch of ice crystals on the surface of the turkey. When that very thin layer of ice crystals turns to steam bubbles due to the hot oil, it expands to 1600 cubic inches. 1600 cubic inches is seven gallons of steam bubbles suddenly appearing in the oil. That extra seven gallons causes it to overflow.

Btw to get seven gallons of instant steam bubbles requires that a layer of ice averaging only 0.003 inches thick boil off from the turkey's 300 square inches of surface area. In other words, the math says that even an invisibly thin layer of ice produces a shitload of steam bubbles in a hurry, and that you should really dry off the turkey as well.

yes, you should dry off the turkey, even when you do you have to lower it in carefully, because the oil will froth for a bit

well the turkey itself is displacing the oil as well..it is best to measure the oil level first before you heat up and dump a turkey in.

i defrost my turkey, and immerse it in water, inside the deep frying pot.
I then know how much oil i need to put in the pot to cover the turkey.

Dry your turkey off before deep frying.
