Chris, get Splashtop or Jump Desktop for the ipad and you will use it a ton more.

I love my ipad and the fact that I can be in bed and still work on my main computer is awesome. My wife doesn't like it when I do that, but its great. I bring my ipad everywhere, and if an issue comes up that can't be solved from my iphone, I jump on the ipad and handle it.

Also, no need for the 3g version, I just tether the signal to my iphone if I am on the go and there is no wifi available.

I have an iPad 2. I love it. It sits on my sofa just waiting for me to check some stuff. My fiancee uses it more than I do tho, most times I have to grab my laptop as she is using the iPad.

I thought it was asking how many people bought a tablet of some kind, yet everyone posts spamming about their ipads... and ipad is an ipad, not a tablet, I have the acer, only $400. at walmart, outperforms all ipads on every level, I can use memory sticks, usb, plug it into any computer and load whatever movies, mp3's pics whatever I want without having to go through registering it or using some bs program "itunes".

any parent giving their children a apple product is just limiting their potential of learning, you can only do what apple lets you do. on a pc there are no limits... apple is good for what it was made for, people who browse the net and check emails...

All you iPadders out there, can you poke a look at this this thread and see if you can stream? I made lots of mods and I think I locked out the iPad, esp vers1.... my v1 pad died on me 4 months ago, so I can't test.

Personally, I found I didn't use it for much, except surfing on sofa so I never bothered to replace it... the air does much more for not muchmuch more.

Sharky, I would very much like to see if you can stream this video from your (mac) desktop via the ipad using one of the above softwares... In theory, no you can't since you'll be using safari desktop, which doesn't use the same engine as the iOS webkit....

I'm very curious though.

Thanks

I can't really see the point in them.. other than if you read a lot of books and get something like a kindle.

If you want to carry one around you will have to carry some sort of bag and if you do that, you might as well carry a laptop.

my tablet does not replace my computer in anyway. but If i'm going on a trip "not shooting content", my laptop will be staying home. my son is always on youtube and surfing the net with the tablet, and playing games and watching movies in the car. it's great for on the go stuff, but thats about it.

Spend the $50 more and pick up the Barnes and Noble Tablet. Better specs and storage, and you can do the same thing with both. Reviews have the Nook being the better media device (ie. it plays HD video without stuttering) in comparison to the Fire.

I bought a tablet that ran on the Android OS earlier this year and was disappointed with it. I sold it on Ebay 3 months after I purchased it. The Ipad is a much better product. I think that apple holds its app developers to a higher standard than you get with Android apps. 25% of the apps that I tried to run on my Android tablet caused it to lock up and require a reboot. I have never had that problem with an app on my Ipad or Iphone.

what android tablet did you get?
Alot of people get the cheapest android phones they can then say they hated it and it was horrible and how much better the iphone is...if you compare similar products then the people who dislike android goes way down
