HAHA After being awarded .XXX names, they just took them away.

Epic sleaze move.

Two of the names I got were premium names that somehow ICANN didn't reserve for themselves. So I got them. Directnic awarded me the domains.

Today, they contact me saying there was an error and those two domains are no longer mine.

Honestly, I expected such shenanigans. Curious if this happened to anyone else.

Haha as expected. Someone even wrote here that it would happen.
Like someone asked why the domains they registered didn't work yet, and the guy was like "They have to be manually approved, so they can make sure they didn't forget to reserve some premium domains, and if they did, they will just take them and say it was an error"

Seems he was right

That is exactly what they did.

After you buy a domain, you have to get a ICANN ID in order to activate it. That's when they can look at your domain and decide if they want it or not.

I'm not really upset over it, that's what I get for buying a couple. But I think it's funny that it's playing out exactly how people thought it would.

Who knows. After making this thread, I found out my friend had the same thing happen to one of his domains today too. Another great domain. Gone.

So they ARE taking back domains, there is no doubt about it. Maybe they oversold them, or they want to keep them for premium names so they can find some sucker to pay 100k+ for them. Who knows.

I wouldn't be building anything on one of them for a little while until ICANN decides which domains they want to take back. Now you can see what they can do, I have to wonder how far down the road can they claim them.

Good times.

So how do you apply for an ICANN ID?

I bought 2 via DirectNIC but I'm getting Domain Status: FAIL: Domain not resolving

DirectNIC said they take 48 hours to update but I didn't get an ICANN ID

If ICM are using a system like this to revolk domain ownership for good domains they forgot to reserve, what is to stop them from just taking your domain away from you a few years down the line?

Doubt mine will be approved then since one is a well know 3 letter domain and the other is a great 4 letter domain.

That really is a scandalous system they have setup

That's beyond fucked up. You paid for it, you registered it, and they fucking stole it! I was kind of getting excited about .xxx and the possibilities, and I started to think that the whole thing might not be that bad after all. Man, was I wrong!

You should have first received an email that was the normal domain receipt. Then they sent an email saying you were awarded the domains.

Then if they take them away, you get another email saying that there was an error and you no longer have the domains. Sorry.

I'm happy this happened early on. I will not be building a large site on .XXX. This was a lesson learned.

Let me finish disputing all of this with Directnic and ICANN. Once I'm totally defeated, I will list them if you would like.

Well I got the normal domain receipt yesterday when I placed the order, that's all I've gotten so far.

If they are pulling this type of shit on people I wouldn't be bothered if they didn't approve my domains

Prob poor wording on by behalf. They were not designated "premium" buy ICM but they were equal to many that were, and maybe should have been. Good names.

That is what I think happened, they saw them and took them back. They can probably get more money for them than the $99 I paid.

But who knows. Could have been a computer glitch as well. I suppose anything is possible.

In my ICM account for the first 16 domains I purchased, all domains are flagged as "membershipValid". That's it. I haven't heard anything from them about status, whether I got them or not, or DNS. They might refuse some of mine because of obscenity but I also got some decent premium ones and they can't have any excuse for not awarding these to me unless they really are nasty unreliable opportunistic lying inbreed scum.

Domainers always say if you really do in fact own a "premium" domain name "you'll know it". I guess ICM let you know.

Yes I believe you. Well they can take those domains, they can't take my content and if they are playing things dirty or they're going to act like censors like some are suggesting, then I'll continue doing my thing on .com
If they make a mess or their own .xxx extension then that's going to reflect on the people using it and the content being distributed through it and then people willing to pay for quality porn quickly know that they need to stay away from .xxx domains. Their advertising and marketing can't change that, in the end it's all about the content, not the packing.

And next year someone will come with the .porn extension and maybe handle things in a more honest way, then I'll happy to apply for that.

Another .xxx success story.

well with any land rush type of setting you are bound to have two people attempting to register within the same time period ...could this of happened and someone got it shortly before you did and the system didnt update to alert it was taken?

Just shows you the type dishonest scum these people truly are.....nothing but crooks!

You may want to hold on to all that correspondence for when an investigation starts against ICM and ICANN. v

I hope you get all your money back.

What about your valuable relationship with manwin? Aren't you afraid you'll lose your "stand up guy" rating with the thieving cock-suckers?
