Google: .XXX Will Be Treated Like Any Other Top-Level Domain

http://business.avn.com/articles/tec...in-457490.html

Quote:
...the Google comment does refute those observers speculating that the search engine will give .xxx either preferential treatment or the opposite. It says it will do neither, and that .xxx sites will have to prove their algorithm mettle just like every other domain in order to be rewarded with top rankings.

My main concern with google and .3x's is that I was concerned that they would give preferential treatment towards those sites with the 3 x's ext. it is nice to see the playing ground wont be tilted in favor of any particular TLD

Most were worried they wouldn't show them in a regular index, why on earth would they give preferential treatment?

suffice it to say that I dont think it is much of a stretch to picture Lawley or his lackeys wooing Google with piles of cash for preferential treatment for those that lease their domains from ICM... especially if they were allowed to make a statement about such an agreement publicly.

Boycott Google. If we all use Yahoo search we can make a point.

Well it was obvious how this will occur, same as xxx wont be mandatory ever, otherwise they wouldn't concentrate so hard on extorting mainstream audience.

Well i hope you're right ! About the Search engines, reminds me of all the .info .mobi etc... Names that were bought and none showing up on the first page of any search results. It's only .com names (almost) So G (for instance) does favor .com names. Not ALL tlds.

So i guess it's good news regarding SE traffic but that's not what i'm afraid of !

it's because people who are going to spend money / effort on ranking do it with the .com not .mobi.

This is one of the things I was not concerned about. G just doesn't work that way.

Never has. Never will.

There is a small exception in community serving extensions. For example:

Search

Red Cross = RedCross.org
Standford University = Stanford.edu
Cedars Sinai Hospital = CedarsSinai.edu
Us Army = Army.mil
The White House = WhiteHouse.gov

Etc. Etc.

since google prioritizes mainstream results over adult results for a given term wouldn't they be less likely to have a url with .xxx as a result.
probably only show .xxx term if the search term was unquestionable adult related.
example - if someone searches for 'casting', no way google would list 'casting.xxx'

Google said the same identical thing back in the day when ICANN OK'd the .biz tld and the again with other tld's that never took off even with extensive seo'ing.
However it is not important what Google spokesmen say, it's how the system treats it.
After that the largest .xxx sites are out and have started their SEO process, then we can actually see how Mr.G. will treat the situation, I wouldn't start sucking each others dicks quiet yet and on the other hand the .xxx domain owners that will put effort, time and money into a optimization process will be doing it in the pitch black.

Haha at thinking big sites have much of an SEO process. Existing and being popular is their SEO process.

Google has their results all edited by people, so the .xxx domains will all be easily flagged as porn so for non clear porn results they will never show up, as they shouldn't.
