If its only 10 hours a week, email your requirements to me at [email protected], and I will see if any of the guys are qualified for consideration. Otherwise good luck!

Look at it like this. $10 an hour for DVTimes to shoot a scene for you. $200 an hour for Dean. $1,000 an hour for me.

My brother is a top programmer, writes his own languages, he gets work off Craigs List. If you're in the SoCal/LA area he might be able to do something for you. From what I hear he's busy.

I have been in software development for 10 years and have used just about every language under the sun. If you still need someone, email me at [email protected] with the details and I can send you some examples of my work.

We can talk about your needs and see about referring you to the right person or if your needs fit what we do best. If you're not familiar with me and my team, we've been doing web programming for fifteen years and right now you're probably using our Apache and Linux code. Of course we're also known for Strongbox, Throttlebox, and Clonebox.

I'm curious how you determine that a programming language is "yours". How is apache and linux "your" code?

I'm looking for a long term partnership.

For example, I was the Vice President of Business Development for the company that put out version 2.0 of Python. That'd include being part of the team. In the Apache case, I assume that he means they contributed code, which would be easily verifiable (i.e., probably not made up).

Yes, this is how ALL of us in the upper echelon roll. Little known fact: Derek jeter signed wih the Yankees through a Craigslist ad. Most top cancer researchers also exclusively source jobs through Craigslist, as do a number of the top attorneys currently practicing.

All of us at the top end don't have nearly enough referrals, and need to troll Craigslist for work.

As edgeprod suggested, by "our code" I mean stuff I wrote.

An interesting question would be whether software one architected and consulted on algorithms for but did not personally code would qualify.

People rise to the level of their incompetence, it seems. If you can code, you get promoted to systems architect. If you can architect, you get promoted to project manager. If you can manage a project, you get promoted to director. On it goes until you land in a job you can't do and there you stay.

It's been a challenge for me to stay in the code, where I like to be. I hire people, then reduce staff, then hire someone else, and spend half my time on taxes and other government paperwork. I just like the clever algorithms. I like to find hard to impossible programming tasks and find a way to cheat to get it done. (Like my favorite, doing all of the intensive processing once, ahead of time.)

So I am still looking. Raymor, your responses lead me to believe you are over qualified for what I need. I'm looking for somebody who has the knowledge and the understanding of most of the common programming languages used in every day sites.

Taking a php script and knowing how to efficiently customize it. Things like incorporating billing into customized php scripts, etc.

A good dialogue up front and then the ability to run with the project, however big or small, and use solid skills as well as good judgement to deliver.

I just get overwhelmed sometimes and really am looking for someone who can help me develop the projects and see the finish line, project after project.

There are some good people here for that. It would also fit our team well, probably, if you want quality. I think often the best results come from a more experienced software engineer guiding a competent coder and that's what we often do. I look at the project, discussing the actual business goals with you, then suggest to Elias how it could be done, then he codes the details while I'm sitting next to him. That way you have an experienced person making sure the best approach is used, and a less expensive person handling the mundane details.

Ali handles billing and certain routine code jobs, like encryption upgrades, product installs, etc. so that Elias and I can focus on programming. That way you're not paying a qualified programer to do the bookkeeping on the contract.

Historically, clients have always been very happy with what we deliver, while Elias is helping us deliver it FASTER because I get busy and don't always get things done quickly. In the six months or so Elias has been with us, turnaround times have improved because I don't have to find the hours to devote to details. We could still improve on that, though.

First response on your personel page

quote "Public variable? Where?s the encapsulation? You are using a class and making objects of that class right? If so you forgot one of the most important parts of object oriented programming. Unless you are using this class statically ? in which case it?s still coded wrong.
No offense but it looks like you learned to program using PHP instead of a real programming language."
