RazorServers? or stick with QuadraNet?

Damn those RazorServers prices are appealing...

Thinking of switching from QuadraNet to them...

On the other hand, QuadraNet has such awesome support... they always answer any support question in a matter of minutes! Best. Support. Ever.

Any tips?

Anyone from Razor Servers around?

Anyone from QuadraNet around to give me a good deal on a new server?

I do not believe anyone from Razor is on GFY. Yes, their prices & network are excellent.

However, their support is not so good by comparison to many other providers out there, including Quadra. Some people can get by on, and expect, slower support for budget hosting. They give you budget pricing, but you have to cut somewhere. Rules of the game.

However, if you are hosting your main bread and butter sites, you want blazing support.

Thank you kindly for the compliments.
I am here if you want a quote on something!
and THANKS for spelling our company name with a capital N! QuadraNet!

Don't forget that with unrealistic prices, corners are being cut some where.
Usually the price per month, overall, isn't that much of a difference and your hosting is your biggest responsibility of operating on the Internet.
Is $100/month difference (or whatever) really worth the additional risk and lack of service you would get else where? $100 vs your entire business, time, sanity...

Hey TidalWave, it's great to see you here! I think you are correct that $100/mo is a fair price to pay for the extra support and reliability. Plus, it's just excellent that QuadraNet has representation on these here boards.

And TidalWave, I have a ticket in with your sales dept. It is #525483. I can wait until Monday for a response from Sales, but if you want to handle it beforehand, please do. You can e-mail me at the address on the ticket for more info. Thanks!

I paid $1500 a month I believe it was once for several beastly servers through you, and you setup my RAID array with mismatched hard drives from odds and ends I suppose (which your tech later admitted to) and when several of them failed at the same time we lost our array.

So please, tell me more about corners being cut somewhere.

Edit: Oh yeah! Almost forgot how our servers and all the others around it would turn off regularly because you were overloading the electrical capacity too.

Fun times hosting with you, it was.

Thanks for your opinion, Socks!

This is not unlike the problem I have been having with QuadraNet.

While they do answer support queries in a matter of minutes, actually solving the support issues has been a different matter. I've had 19 support tickets and I still don't have a functional, stable CentOS 6.x 64-bit server.

Perhaps it is time to move on? I'm still undecided...

First, your server is unmanaged, there is nothing keeping your machine from running CentOS 6.x, there are plenty of other customers doing it on your exact hardware.
You should try and diagnose the issue to find the root cause of your issue so that you can resolve it.
It may not even be related to the OS, but rather a script or other issue.
As an unmanaged server, we are responsible for providing your machine with network, power, rackspace, and hardware replacement on failure... the actual system administration of the machine is your responsibility.

If you open a ticket with support, and ask us to investigate the crashing, I will make a note with the support department to approve your request as a good will gesture and we will assist you in troubleshooting the cause of the crashes.

You know, I tried to be professional and positive in this post. I was seeking advice on possibly moving to RazorServers from the GFY community. I wasn't, and I don't think anyone could reasonably accuse me of, trying to trash your company or service. So I'm very surprised at your tone, and that you post this accusatory message here. For the GFYer's information, I have thoroughly checked the log files, and I know how to manage a server. As I mentioned to you via your ticket system, the server crashes at random times with just the OS installed! But discussing such support details was not the point of this thread...

I was a big fan of your company when I started this thread. I was not in any way a dissatisfied customer. Now? I'm not so sure...

props to Jack @ QuadraNet support

A guy named Jack with QuadraNet technical support just solved all the technical problems with my server in a matter of minutes.

So I'm back to: QuadraNet = Best. Support. Ever.

Nobody answered the phone at RazorServers this whole weekend. Plus sales and support went to the same RazorServers voicemail extension... not a good sign.

TidalWave bugs me, but I've decided that the company is worth sticking with, even if there are cheaper alternatives.

Thanks, Jack!
