I do wonder if that was the case. When you hire off duty cops it is overtime and usually runs $50-60/hr.

Or maybe him getting on a commercial flight was too obvious so he flew privately somewhere.

That may be, and technically it is obviously true, but I dated almost all latina girls when I lived in Southern California, and would hang out with their families all the time. When they referred to "white people", they weren't talking about themselves....

And the people here in Miami, from Columbia, Cuba, Equador, etc... Also talk about "white" people, not referring to themselves.

People from Socal that are from a Mexican back ground have never been taught the difference as Mexico does not teach it. In fact Mexico is sooo mixed with Indian its hard in some areas to tell. I lived in Miami for 20 years and know for a fact that the better educated Cubans Colombians and what not all know the difference and refer to themselves as white. Thats the thing Tom there is no way for this NOT to be a race thing. Even if there was nothing at the scene that was racial.

The area that it happened is a very small town with mostly white Americans ( Non Hispanic ) and most of them are quite racist.

None of the terms seem coherent to me - Latino/Latina, Hispanic, Spanish, etc. - these terms are used like a race, but they describe a bunch of people associated with a language and one of several related cultures regardless of race. I've never understood whether that makes me Hispanic or not, but it's my sense that, because I don't come from a family with a tradition of the Spanish language being spoken that few would consider me to be Latin.
