Adobe Creative Cloud

Who amongst you subscribe to your Adobe products using Adobe subscriptions or Creative Cloud which gives you access to all products ?

Do you think it's a good value proposition compared to buying products outright ?

In Australia it's 62 per month, in the US it's $49 per month even though the Aussie dollar is worth more, go figure. It's pretty much a subscription plan for Adobe CS Suite plus some extras.

Either nobody has thoughts about this, or most people have other "licensing" arrangements for Adobe CS ?

Any other input welcomed

I've had it since May, I pay $29 a month and got all of CS6

BTW, Muse is the best shit ever for ripping out static websites quickly.

I'm a down and dirty HTML/CSS/JS by hand in Notepad++/TextMate kind of guy. And I get pretty snobby when people suggest WYSIWYG editors.

With that being said - I love Adobe Muse for whipping up quick landing pages for A/B testing. It's the only thing I use it for...but that alone made it worth the download. Not sure if I would purchase it outside of the subscription though.

Considering CS full license is around $3k and the upgrades are north of $600 in local currency, $700 a year to stay fully up to date doesn't seem too bad.

Except that Adobe are gouging the Australian market badly. $49.95 per month in the USA yet $64.95 per month here and our dollar is worth more than the US dollar. Go figure.

At a certain point it will be too much. I'm paying $20 a month for my wife's Kindle magazines, and another $19 a month for a site my kid likes. Toss in a few monthly services I use, and we are already up past $100. M$ is working on a new office platform that will be cloud based, which they'll charge for on a monthly basis.

If Facebook and YouTube start charging, I'll be fucked.

Software and software subscription here is 100% tax deductible, so providing you use it for business the cost isn't really an issue unless you're unprofitable.

I think it's a good deal for CS compared to buying the box, it's just the price gouging of Australian customers I think sucks.

Whats the sales tax in Au. Looking at the Spanish one it's around 60 Euros a month but that includes tax.

Sales tax is 10% however that would make it $54.00 not $64.95.

It's price gouging , same product, different regional pricing.

I just subscribed to Adobe CC a few months ago, and yes . . . it's worth the money.

Having the whole huge suite of tools is making me reorganize my mind and approach to everything . . . and take time to learn things instead of just making do with old stuff.

That's because one half of GFY has absolutely no clue

And the other half don't care because MUSE generates shitty code

I'm switching over when I get my new pc next month. cs3 is the last suite I got and it's outdated. I need to step up to the cloud. I did a trial on illustrator because I was given something to work with that cs3 couldn't open, it's pretty slick

You can't buy them outright as far as I'm aware. If you want new, up to date Adobe products...they're only available through the Cloud.

Best $20 a month I spend. It pay's to be a student.

It's a really fair price, and if you're using it daily, then it's more than worth it.

Having bought premiere 1, 2, etc up to CS3 have lived with the bugs etc...

The lastest version is not that much different and demands new OS and computer.

Would like to have Photoshop and speed grade but will add up to a lot of cash over the years.

I've been using it for just over a year. I love that you get 2 licenses and are able to use it on different platforms. I'm running on on my desktop PC and another n my Macbook Pro.

Weird that this thread got bumped. I subscribed recently, and am enjoying my subscription. I was worried at first that I couldn't use it if I wasn't connected to the Internet (at the beach, traveling, etc), but that turned out not to be the case.

The AUS pricing has been a sore spot for Adobe for a long time now; they are being pricks over it, just because they apparently can.

Not sure why anyone in the industry would so proudly want to claim here that they are a thief.

On a side-note (kinda):

Anyone else having performance issues with cs6 on large jpg images (6000+ pixels long-side)? I swear just highlighting and sampling area to use with healing brushes takes a long assed time and misses the location often. Kinda feels like GUI is not actually showing whats being done to it properly until its applied..

Yes!!

I am a photographer first... Been using Photoshop since 4.0.. even before the first CS hit.. I have spent thousands in upgrades over the years and that is just for photoshop.. none of the other adobe products.

When I started editing video, I picked up a cheap video editor at Fry's for $60 and it sucked!

Then I joined the CC a few months ago... I pay $49 per month and have everything I want! It's brilliant if you ask me. For those of us who refuse to use pirated software and are actually paying for the upgrades, Creative Cloud is actually a money saver.. And it's way better to budget 50 a month then to dish out 600 at once for an upgrade just to get one new fucking healing brush...
