Stupid rabbit

My cat just caught the same baby rabbit for the third time in the past two days - at least I think it's the same, same size, same general vicinity. Thankfully she hasn't yet harmed it that I can see. I hope that it's the same one, otherwise that would indicate there is a clutch under my porch which means it's going to keep happening until the mother, if she's still around, decides to move them.

And my cat can be a total pain in the ass when she wants to go outside (she's smart AND tenacious, which makes her very annoying when she sets her heart on something) so keeping her inside indefinitely is not a viable solution.

The funny thing is that the first time I did not want to touch it as I kept thinking of that guy that got the plague trying to get the mouse out of the stray cat's mouth. Still, I think I'll go wash my hands now.

Well, rabbits breed like.. rabbits and have MANY per litter so unless you tag it and recognize it specifically it's probably a different one I bet. If it was really small they're probably still in the "nest" area so your cat might be just picking them off one by one as they get the balls to move out. The parent rabbit just basically abandons them after a short time so they just have to get the nerve to start their own lives one at a time.

My cat used to bring back freaking game sized rabbits! LOL. He came walking out of the woods one day hauling a rabbit almost as big as himself, straddling over it and dragging it like a jaguar hauls a antelope. I watched him stalk and catch a bird once. He jumped like 6 feet straight up and snagged it out of the air after flushing it.. it was insane and again like some african footage or something. He was a big maine coon breed of cat.

Oh, by the way.. rabbits DO tend to make their nests in "plain sight" type of locations. Like a small patch of slightly tall grass or whatever. If you see some soft fur around you might try carefully looking in the grass or weeds or porch area.

I saw a video once of a guy who found a nest right at a fence post in plain sight where he walked everyday in his garden. And there was like 8 tiny rabbits in there too. They would not make a SOUND until he disturbed their nest then they'd kind of peep.

A rabbit and a bear were pooping in the woods. The rabbit says to the bear, "don't you hate getting poop on your fur?". The bear picks up the rabbit and wipes his ass with it and says, "I've never had that problem.".

It's almost certainly a family, and the cat is killing off one after the other. young bunnies are indistinguishable.

baby bunnies typically die from shock and infection after being caught by a cat, even if the cat lets them go, or you "rescue" them.

a young bunny mother chose a poor place to bear young. older mothers tend to be more careful.

If you think rabbits are stupid, here's some more proof.
