No requirements if you're an EU citizen.

For non EU citizens I'd assume it's the same as most countries, 3 months tourist visa would be the easiest route.

My advice to the OP would be to use a website like - https://www.airbnb.com

People advertise their spare room for a price per day/week/month.

Benefits include it's cheaper, less hassle than signing a rental contract, potentially socialising with the owner of the property etc

Since you're thinking about 2 - 3 months you could probably negotiate even better rental terms for that amount of time, just an idea

I'm not really a party animal and not really into whores, though it's nice to look at them. I seldom drink too. Based on all the postings above, it seems like its quite doable to live with 800 or below. I could only speak English, hope they don't hate me. I just want to go somewhere in Eastern european to take a break. I would like to rent a bachelor apartment near city. Here are the things I would like to do - reading book in a cafe with nice scenery, talking to locals n learning their cultures, attending a lecture at a university, learning the language from a local, doing a bit volunteering work, etc etc.

not exactly eastern europe but i suppose its at least eastern bloc. my recommendation would be Poland.

two of my mates have just settled in Krakow after travelling around (and wetting their dicks) in a few of Polands main cities (Gdansk, Warsaw, Sopot and some others i can't remember...).

I went out to see them when they were in Gdansk for a music festival and can confirm that the locals were very friendly. there was loads of bullshit on british tv about asians and blacks getting abused out there (and ukraine) in the run up to the euros but I didnt see anything close to it.

im defo going out to see those goons again and if i wernt settled in blighty would almost certainly be joining them out there for good cheap food and a fantastic ration of gettable good quality pussy than i have experienced anywhere else...

Some pretty uncreative suggestions here. How about Ljubliana, Split, Hvar, Talinn, Budva, Riga, Varna, Sunny Beach, Minsk, Beirut, Dubrovnik, or Burgas.

How about food choice in some of these places? I saw subway sandwich outlet in Prague. Are those American food franchises are already there in the Eastern Europe?

And we have here one of the most beautiful countrysides in Prague and it takes only 17 min by the train to get on the main Railway station or 8 minutes to metro station Smichovske Nadrazi.
The small inner Prague-cities on the outskirts of Prague are more better for a livingn then central parts of Prague. Its like a living in small city with all attributes of Prague.

Wroclaw has it all.... bit harsh winters as for whole Central Europe, tough....
couchsurfing.org and specific city groups are your chance for meeting local people....
there are also some NGOs to volunteer there....plus i know some guys from other EU countries, USA etc. living there and volunteering....

among warsaw, krakow it has biggest university scene/ young student girls etc. ... but for me wroclaw has best atmosphere from these cities...

if you like Nature etc. you can live in some " charming shithole" village/countryside, somewhere in EU, even on west...for 800 euros / month....800 usd in Central Europe...but you won't get there as many possibilities for "active" social life as in bigger city

Any places where you can live decently (not like a king) for $200 a month? Any places with great backpacking trails?

All this cheap talk, what about places for ~$1500 usd/mo rent? What's that going to get me? English, warm weather and women always a plus.
