"The British government has also reportedly reminded the Ecuadorean government that under law it can revoke the diplomatic immunity of an embassy, which would enable officials to enter the building and apprehend Assange."

They'll get him one way or another.

It's a rape case and the country is Sweden, not some torturous regime. Ecuador shouldn't be giving him asylum anyway

Ever wonder what dirt he has on Ecuador in order for them to do this? Or what plans he made with them to release information on countries they do not like?

Not sure political asylum in Ecuador is so much better a lifestyle than prison in Sweden.
Sweden has some very fancy prisons and hiding from the CIA in Ecuador ins't exactly freedom.

I find this rather interesting. Julian Assange has violated United States top security, made it public, and seems to think he'll get away with it. In the good old days he would have been shot in his sleep or car bomb or something. One way or another I believe he'll either be killed or spend the rest of his life in a US prison.

It's amazing he hasn't suffered a heart attack or died in a car wreck yet.

That's exactly what I'm saying.

I know he hasn't violated any laws. But the United States intelligence community has got to be pissed.

Sleep with one eye open.

I think if the uK goes in and arrests Assange in the embassy that then Ecuador is well within its rights to arrest British diplomats for any little crime

If I understand correctly - and someone correct me if I'm wrong here - any country can suspend diplomatic privileges simply by giving proper warning. Which means the UK can say "You are no longer welcome here, you must leave and you have one week" at which point diplomats are no longer diplomats and no longer enjoy any special rights or consideration, and any property owned by Ecuador will no longer be an embassy and subject to the normal UK laws as any other property would.

However, I do not see the UK going this far.

The way i understand it is The UK can say ... your offices no longer have diplomatic status ... and instead they move the status to a new building , All those who have taking refugee then have to travel through England to get to the new place . at that point they stop and detain Assange . I had a good two hour drive last night listening to the BBC world service

Even if the UK don't do anything... there would be no way for Assange to leave the premises, right? I presume as an asylum seeker he is only protected within the embassy, and if he tried to leave there (say as part of an escort to the airport) he would be in UK territory and therefore subject to arrest?

Maybe see if there's a diplomatic pouch big enough to stuff him in.

Yes if he leaves the embassy the UK can and most likely will stop and take him into custody and they would be within their rights even by Airlift soon has he leaves their offices he can be arrested ...

I think the Diplomats from Ecuador will get very tired of him living the rest of his life in their embassy

After the "our dicks are bigger the your dicks" demonstration of the British Gov Ecuador had to demonstrate that their dicks are at least equal. Now, since I think that not all politicians are barbaric morons (at least I hope so) there must be a rational reason behind this. Maybe a change to finally get rid of a nuisance in a halfway elegant way?

No dice. The cars are owned by Ecuador and have diplomatic plates and all - The are untouchable. Here in the US the cops in NYC cannot even give cars with diplomatic plates a ticket which causes a huge problem for them with the UN being there.

Great! Another tinpot South American country has a go at "colonial" Britain

Why doesn't Hugo Chavez of Venezuala, who ever the fuck is in charge of Equador, and Agentina's Cristina Kichener get together and have a big anti-Brit fuckfest
Seriously, I'd pay good money (British Pounds, actually) to watch that annoying "give us back Las Malvinas" bitch get repeatedly raped up the ass... mmm!

They'd probably legally have to give some sort of notice, and they can easily just transport him in a helicopter to the new location...it's not like they can pull a helicopter over and detain him.

People, the UK always upholds the rule of law. Everyone is entitled to the same fair and equal treatment under the law presided over by an independent judiciary and prosecution service. We are well respected throughout the world for our fair legal system and transparent democracy.

So when Diplomats owe over £58m in London congestion charges, have no doubt justice will be done soon: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-18725937

And oh yeah, we will be packing Sarah Ferguson (Duchess of York) on to a flight to face justice in Turkey very soon: http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headline...-travel-plans/

^ Good movie, No Way Out. Would be a great movie without the unnecessary twist at the end.

And LOL @ all the suckers who still refuse to accept that Assange is an intelligence asset.

Our political leaders are too busy burying their tongues in the US politicial leaders asses to do anything about it. They should be ashamed of themselves.

The only thing Assange has done is show the world how full of shit the US agency's are.

Our political leaders are too busy burying their tongues in the US politicial leaders asses to do anything about it. They should be ashamed of themselves.

The only thing Assange has done is show the world how full of shit the US agency's are.
He has NOT been charge of any crime , including rape .

They want him for ' questioning ' ....

Ever watched a Law & Order when they get people to come down for an ' interview '....

This is all BS...

What next ???? The USA giving assylum to a chineese ' dissident ' and getting him out of China ??????
