Is it worth building blogs on non .coms? Or is it better to get a .com that's not an exact match?

Example:

clownporn.org

or

clownpornsex.com

i have quite few successful blogs on .net and .org even in .info it all depends what are u targeting if you are making brand. for example check failblog dot org..

lol. He would just come up to me in my yard from his and talk about the updates that they were working on and about the 140-something criteria that they ranked with at the time.. All I was trying to do was blow things up in my yard and he kept bothering me with nerd shit..

.com is great for dictionary words, exact phrases and type-ins, because people tend to be most familiar with .com in USA (different in other countries of course). For SEO it does not matter at all (unless you can get your hands on .gov or .edu domains. Those are given better ranks)

Actually that is no longer true. It was true for a long time, but once they got spammed to death Google removed the extra weight they used to get.

.net and .org for exact matches to get more bang for your buck (i.e. 5k+ phrases vs. 500+ in .com for the same cost) and .com's for more serious presences or for general SEO or hitting up higher search terms over time (better to do with an aged domain).

Saying this less on my experience and more on what I see from those who buy domains from us, adult or mainstream.

If I find a key term that I love and the .com is taken (and just parked) then I'll grab the .net or .org. If the .com is being used and already built upon, then I usually move on and try to grab something else. You just have to build sites that your visitors will love.

I also have a few .info domains that I registered and used to build mini sites. They have surprisingly done pretty well SE wise.
