Michael J Fox to make full-time TV return - GoFuckYourself.com

Twelve years after giving up full-time acting to focus on fighting Parkinson's disease, Michael J Fox will star in a new TV comedy based on his illness.

The Back to the Future star will play a father of three dealing with the degenerative nervous system disorder.

NBC television called Fox "utterly relatable, optimistic, and in a class by himself".

In recent years, Fox gradually returned to TV with recurring roles in the likes of Boston Legal and The Good Wife.

However, the new 22-episode sitcom marks his first long-term commitment to a show since he left political comedy Spin City in 2000.

"I have no doubt that the character he will create - and the vivid family characters surrounding him - will be both instantly recognizable and hilarious," said NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt.

I like Michael J Fox quite a bit but a sitcom about Parkinson's just seems to be a tad unfunny to me. I think it will make people more uncomfortable laughing at what is happening on screen then being entertained.

Sort of agree, but i think Michael will find a way to make it funny without feeling wierd when you laugh. He seems to always be able to have that something.. wich allows him to get a way with a lot.

Anyhow, will watch it for sure when it comes out. Have always been a huge fan of his.

He is known to make fun of himself all of the time. He has a good sense of humor about it, and for that I applaud him... should he hide in a dark room someplace and feel sorry for himself? Fuck that.

On top of that, it gives him a chance to shed some light on the subject/disease and bring some interest into finding a cure or at least some research.

Indeed he does. But that is not a reason not to do business with him. The fact he has posted here about committing fraud and giving tutorials for others to emulate his illegality is. The fact he steals content from sponsors, rewatermarks it as his own is another reason not to do business with him. And the fact he scams people is yet another reason.

The fact he posts on usenet asking for men to let him fuck is not a reason to avoid business with him, but it is fucking funny.

I have a huge amount of respect for him and always have Loved watching him as the odd man out Keaton heh heh. No I dont think he should hide and he hasn't been, he has brought a lot of attention to the subject and tried to do some good (remember the stem cell controversy?)

My point was just that the more squeamish among the population and those that actively seek to not think may be more uncomfortable than amused. I know I will TiVO it for sure

It's about doing it tastefully. Like when a bald cancer patient makes a joke of "just give me a minute to do my hair" before going out. It shows that even when you're up against the worst thing imaginable you just roll with it and make the most out of the cards you were dealt.

A show like this will bring awareness. It will make you laugh and entertain you but you'll also see the seriousness of the disease.

Too many people are "poor pitiful me" these days and stop living life. This is an example of how life goes on. He's always done comedy so of course the show will be a comedy.

It'd be more disrespectful if he were in a comedy and the Parkinson's was obvious but never addressed.
