Domain Transfer help needed

I've never transferred a domain name in my life and have no clue what to do.

I already have a active adult website hosted with AmeriNOC.
The domain name that's being given to me is registered at Go Daddy.
I want to run my current domain and the new domain off of the one AmeriNoc server I currently have.

I've sent Chris over at AmeriNoc a email asking if they are a Domain Registrar
and if so how to transfer this new domain over to them.
(Hasn't gotten back to me)

If not, my main domain is registered with PTRHosting and I can not stand PTR.

Here is the letter from this chick that's giving me the domain!

Quote:
The domain forwards to the site which is on my staging server--it was transferred to me from another bloke who built a site a while back, so I couldn't transfer it again to Billy (at first because he had no hosting set up, nor email) until this month due to some strange restrictions.

But, I'm not going to give you access to my account, my entire body of work is on that and I don't know you. I'm sorry.

What I can do is transfer the domain to you. I can do that on Monday so if you have time then lets get on a chat or something so I can get the info I need from you to do that - I don't need much from you but I don't remember off hand if it is just an email address, or customer number or what. What host are you all going with? If it is Godaddy it will be an internal transfer and that won't take long.

Once the domain is transferred to you, I can perform the migration of the site from my staging server to the one you set up for the XYZ.com, but I need the domain and hosting set up in advance so that might not happen right away depending on how long the domain transfer takes. To do the migration, I need a temporary login to XYZ.com new account with ftp credentials so I can upload the files, install wordpress, and populate the database, etc.

When that is done, I'll set you up with an admin login to wordpress and she's all yours.
Sound good?

You do not need to change registrars to change hosting. Leave GoDaddy as the registrar and point to Amerinoc's nameservers

No need to make a chore out of it

Go to godaddy and create an account. Send the account name to the person transferring it to you. She should be able to do a free push to the gd account.

Once the domain is in your account you can change the dns to point at your server.

As stated by baddog above, there is no need to transfer your domain name, just update the nameserver settings for the domain in your godaddy account.

Very simple 10 second process.

Thanks Baddog and sarettah.

Since there is a whole year on the domain, like Baddog said, why move it.
I took Baddog's advice. I added the domain to my AmeriNoc admin panel & simply changed the nameservers to AmeriNoc.

Much appreciated
Thanks again

Why move it ???? You are kidding, right ....

From that letter , it seems that the domain does NOT belong to you, but to that person . She does not want to give you access to her account to manage it, as she has other domains there .

Act now before you fell pain in your backside :

- open an account with a registrar ( Godaddy, NameCheap, Sibername or whoever )
- start the request too transfer the domain, and pay the fee
- The other person will receive the request and if accepted by her, the domain will be moved to YOUR account ...

.. if not, come back in a year to update us on how your domain is not working
