Staying on top of things

What do you use to manage your to-do lists, or lists of things you need to get done for your sites? How do you organize your day?

Are any of you work from home parents? How do you keep distractions down?

So are you guys just keeping a note-pad or using an app?

How long do you let your list get? Do you gut it off after a certain amount of tasks?

The reason I ask is, I'm getting to the point were my list never stops and I just keep going and going.

This type of work is never done. I use a massive white board with dry erase that lists all of my projects so I can glance up and mentally check off each one everyday as I tend to it. As far as the kids go I find having all devices (pc, laptop, tab, phone and htpc) well networked is very handy...this way I can view, edit and update no matter where I am or what I'm doing. Of coarse nothing ever goes smoothly so knowing when to apply more time to certain tasks can be an ongoing challenge of time management. Finally I highly suggest automating or subbing out the things you don't like doing like content writing, video editing, payroll or maybe social networking...? Just depends on what things you've got going...one thing I've never tried but always wanted to do is work with a partner...maybe someone that is strong on your weak points...twice the products

I use a legal pad. I star the stuff that makes me the most money and do those first. So I update the money makers first and then focus on the new projects and the "I should do someday" gets done last. Obviously emergency stuff is constantly changing this order. "got hacked", "program closed", "wrote over a page", etc. Keeps it interesting.

My biggest issue is my life is pretty good so my incentive to sit and bang out 10 solid things a day is just not there. This is the disease. I have no idea how Donald Trump or those guys do it.

I use Google docs to track everything. I even have a spreadsheet of what I need to do. If I need to put a reminder to do something I put it at the bottom of my list.

Having multiple monitors helps too.

I work from home, but our kid is old enough so that I don't have to worry about anything. Pick the kid up from school. and she does her homework. Otherwise I'm behind a closed door and not bothered.

I use evernote to sync between mac / windows / iPhone, and a clipboard with paper for things than I need to do right away and want to keep in front of me all the time.

evernote has been a real life saver. Even clipping articles to it to read later has helped.

It's funny, in this high tech world. The White baord and leglal pad and pen still beat out all of the apps that we have at our disposal.

my Calendar (google). I put everything in there, and set reminders. The reminders buzz on my cell phone. I always have my cell phone with me. Everyone does.
