Nope, I don't think that. Of course we have other interest. You really cannot be serious if you think ANY country, be it the US, France, England, or Iraq, will invest both money and supplies to a country that they have nothing to gain from. How would you explain that to tax payers who can hardly pay their mortgage? How would you explain that to the homeless on the streets? How would you explain it?

There are many reasons to invade Iraq, oil isn't the only one. If oil were the only reason, we'd invade someone else. There are many reasons, but that's for a different thread.

But bottom line, my point was the US is attempting to take out a dictator. Regardless of the reasons, many people want to see dictatorships go the way side, correct? So why are people so pissed off? They get what they want, we get what we want.

From now on, every time I see someone say the US should send money or supplies to another country to help out their people, I'm going to say fuck off. Why give money to some ungrateful fucks? They'll still get the money, doesn't mean I have to like it...

Because most other countries don't have freedom of the press so stories like Arab men forcing their 6 year old sons into gladiator pits to fight for the family honor are not reported.

Yes the US has it's problems but nothing happens here like what happens outside our boarders.

The internet has seriously affected our society in the last decade when it comes to news and information. It is the reason that people representing so many different cultures and countries can even have this discusssion, and it's the reason that information is instantly accessible. It also gives people the ideas to copy to get their fame, i.e. all the murders and mass killings.

although we are at completly different ends of the argument i agree with a lot more of what you say than you would imagine.

but we wouldn't have to invade half of these little third world dictatorships, just stopping selling them arms and emptying billions of dollars from the dictators bank accounts that they've syphoned away and then giving the money to the aid organisations so it gets back to the people. imposing travel restrictions on the leaders etc etc. not much but a start. none of that costs money except to the arms firms.

yeah we've got people sleeping on the streets in the uk too, and i think that's is really bad for that to happen in rich countries, especially as we have 1000's of east europian mafia and even ex taliban flooding our country as asylum seekers and getting nice houses and money thrown at them as soon as they arrive, but that's another issue.
