should have bought one of those

on a serious note: i'd prefer a world with no guns but since thats not possible, parents should at least make sure they are out of reach of children.

and it's absurd that you can not have a beer until you are 21 but you can market guns to children: http://www.crickett.com/

i mean - wtf?

http://www.crickett.com/crickett_kidscorner.php

and some people wonder whats wrong with society...

Fucking lack of supervision is what this is.

It has nothing to do with guns. When my kid was five and played outside, we used to sit and watch. No tablet, no cell phone, just watching. Yesterday I was outside washing my car and the neighborhood kids were playing outside, no parents at all. There are two houses with kids the same age and they are across the street from each other, and they cross the street all the time. Yesterday the six year old girl - the oldest of them all - waiting for a car to pass before crossing the street, then darted out behind it... Not noticing there was a second car that might have hit her. It wasn't "danger close" but it was the thought.

These kids are four and five years old and completely unsupervised on a daily basis.

Only in America and a bunch of other 3rd world countries.

I'm 100% sure the parents considered themselves responsible gun owners. And often mentioned how irresponsible gun owners are the true problem.

Obviously, the parents were competent gun owners and the solution would be to make sure all 2 year olds have their own guns to defend themselves.

Anyone whom thinks otherwise hates freedom and is treading on my rights!

Nothing wrong with giving a kid a gun for a gift if it's only brought out at a range, safe place in the country, etc.

The fact it was not in a gun safe but in a corner of the family room, loaded yet, should leave the parents open for negligent manslaughter.

Well, if his sister was armed she would have been able to defend herself.

a five year old though? they don't even know how to write but they should be using guns? i don't think there is anything wrong with teenagers learning how to shoot, preferably by taking a course. this is how it was around my area in high school. if the guys wanted to shoot guns they had to take a hunting course that taught them how to properly use, store and maintain a gun. they were only able to take this course at 15/16 years old.

Do you realize how goddamn fucked up your country and your way of thinking is if you think there is nothing with giving guns to kids? You may think it's normal but believe me, it's not. It's insane.
The so called freedom thing in the US has gone wrong. Very wrong.

I was about that age when my grandfather gave me a .22 as well. I learned a gun wasn't a toy, you only took it out of the locked cabinet when my father was taking me can shooting, you never loaded the gun until you were in a safe place to shoot, you under no circumstances pointed a gun loaded or unloaded at anything you didn't want to shoot and the safety and trigger were never touched until the target was visible.

It's called responsibility ?.. something more people need.

My grandpa gave me a .22lr for my 4th birthday, I still have it, my dad had to help me hold it when I shot it the first time. For my 12th birthday I got a Remington 870 express magnum 12ga. which I also still have. I have been shooting and hunting as long as I can remember and my dad has always showed me how to be responsible about owning firearms. You guys gotta realize there are way more people like me than there are people who do bad things. Obviously this is a horrible tragedy but at the end of the day the parents left a loaded rifle around some unattended kids. It's her fault, no one else.

Let me repeat it again. It's not normal to give guns to children. You might think so because this word freedom has been repeated to you from the day you were born. But it really isn't. You and your country are fucked.

Can't say the same about someone running me over irresponsibly multi-tasking while driving their car.

the whole 'freedom' thing is fairly new. back in l-pink's day guns were given to little boys because it was thought it helped make them into men and it was tradition that goes back to the days when you had to hunt for your food.

And he we go again. It always easy to pick out the dumbest gun owners. It's the ones that start crying about cars and swimming pools. You know the thread has reached it's end.

My daughter was learning to write at 4 using Hooked of Phonics, I taught my daughter to shoot when she was I think 8, I would never have sent her to a hunting course. I started her with a BB gun and then a .22 pump, then a M1 Carbine

I was learning about the same age, while no guns were every given to me till my step father died, he did give me then, a Savage 30.06 made in 1902 that I can drill holes in golf balls with!

You're teaching your daughter how to shoot people in the eye.
If ayone could stand for everything that is wrong with the US it's you.
It's your backwards kind that people think of in other countries when you mention the US.

hunting was a big thing for a lot of guys in my highschool. seems these days people just want to shoot guns for fun. i don't really see the thrill in either hunting or shooting for fun but whatever. i'd sooner have a kid learn from someone who actually knows what they're talking about rather than teaching mistakes that have been passed down from previous generations.

I understand what you are saying, but when I saw my daughter graduate boot camp, her CC asked me about her training, See I was trained by my stepfather who was a Marine. I taught my daughter more than she would have got from a safety course, I know, I needed one for a hunting license and I needed another for a carry permit. I never needed the California safety course for gun ownership because I was in the Military.

Most is just common sense.

I don't hunt anymore, I just have guns because I enjoy target shooting and the security of having them.
I was thinking about an offer from a friend to go buffalo hunting, not really a sport, but would fill my freezer!

Frank, have a problem with women that can defend themselves? Or just white people?

Either don't give guns to 5 year olds, or give guns to 2 year olds to protect themselves against 5 year olds...

Yeah, there's obviously nothing wrong with making real guns flashy colors that appeal to children and marketing directly to them.

"Crickett Firearms - My First Rifle"

I think the "Kid's Corner" page on that site is the most disturbing.

Look at those pics. This is the culture we're condoning?

And Frank, I'm pretty smart and I haven't cried in decades.
