They both look simple and clean. Old has just a tad more variety, which in your case, makes it better.
Dumb down sites is for the sites with a lot of 2005ish graphics which your site does not have. +1 for old |

I think you have to see to do something for your logo. logo is important and this one in your design seems very thirsty and not too adequacy with new design
