Affiliate Program Owners: $$$ In here

I'm looking for a few affiliate programs to help Beta-test a new service that captures and saves "Form drops"

What are Form drops?

Form drops are users who partially complete a join form on your website but close the browser or back-out before clicking submit.

We are able to capture these users and dispatch a customized email offer encouraging them to complete their signup on your website. Even if the user doesn't act on that offer, you will have the users information and can market to him in the future.

Initial results on several NATS based affiliates programs are showing a sales increase of up to 15% in the first 30 days.

Email me ( mike--at--leadwrench.com ) for more information.

Not in a position to beta & give you enough workable data, but I would love to hear more about it once you're closer to a public launch.

Sharky,

You are capturing the email during the sign up form process and they never actually agree to the mailing. Do we have to put a disclaimer on the sign up form page that we are capturing your data to stay complaint?

Good question Chris. I'm not an attorney, so I can't give legal advice. A disclaimer is not a bad idea if you plan on re-marketing to the user in the future. It's my understanding that one is not needed if there is a single email being sent to recapture the dropped/lost user.

Yeah, and I'm SURE you will only send the customer one email, and never resell the list
Those domain better use third domain when sending out these emails, because Spamhause will block that shit in a heartbeat.

You can't market to him because he never agreed to receive offers from you.

What you are proposing is called spam and it's a felony.

I don't remember anyone doing this in the past. Regardless, it's a great idea being used by companies like Amazon, Netflix, etc.

You cant do it, because its wont count as a "relationship" message, unless they have pressed a "submit" button, or have been warned in advance, that filling out the form will count as a submit.

This is nothing new, and very easy to add to your forms, no need to use a third party solution for something this simple. Any programmer can set up something like this in 30 minutes.

Another question sharky

How is the data stored? Is it sent out to an api of our choice like mailchimp or aweber? Or is it stored on your servers and we download the file or stored on our own servers?

This comes under spam unless, you dont show them prices before and ask them for their email only, on first page with terms to approve and on second page payment options.

but without hitting submit i guess, it would cause trouble.

anyways good luck.

I went to register for a Mainstream convention today and stopped before clicking submit. I ended up getting side-tracked and closed the browser when I left the office for the day. By the time I made it home there was this email in my inbox:

We are not reinventing the wheel here. We are applying a proven process to a new business model.

There is the letter and the spirit of the law. By the letter future marketing would be illegal. By the spirit, helping somebody to finish a process they already started is called common courtesy.

Question about how the system is tracking affiliates.

If the user was sent to the paysite by an affiliate link, will the affiliate receive credit if the email winds up causing them to come back and sign up, or will the affiliate be denied the commission for that sale?

.

speaking as an affiliate - I didn't make the sale, why should I be credited for a sale the program owner made from a mailer? I got zero problem at all from an aff POV with any program that implements this.

This is a great idea and I've seen something similar used on non adult sites for carts (though interestingly many sites dont use it either, so another growth area).

I'd been having a hunt around for something, didnt finish the purchase, but they had my email addy by that time, got a follow up email about the abandoned cart and, for a short time only, giving me a £ off coupon to complete order. very clever. surprised more firms dont use it.

Hiya Jel - I agree that if I didn't make the sale I shouldn't get credit for the signup. What I really meant was more related to the situation that Sharky mentioned, where he just got sidetracked and probably would have gone back to sign up later anyway.

In that case, if someone checked their email in-between first visit and going back to sign up, they might click a link in the email they were sent almost immediately after closing the page the first time. So if that link has a new affiliate ID, then the affiliate who may have done a lot of pre-selling to get them to the site in the first place (perhaps even paid for advertising or traffic), would get cut out of the commission that I think they earned.

I know many sponsors collect emails as step one of the sign up process. Some of them wait until the affiliate code expires before sending a mailing to those addresses. A very few mail earlier but with offers that preserve the affiliates' cookies. The others mail offers before that time, and include links that over-write the affiliate cookies.

The first kind of sponsor I'll promote. The second kind I'll promote even more heavily. The third kind generate a plague-like avoidance.

Just wanted to clarify what I meant by my question.

Still would like to know the answer too.

yes,

if the surfer came by affiliate link then affiliate should get credit .

sometimes it takes 3-4 visits for surfer to get interested in product and make purchase and you wont be leaving him that chance by spamming him. so its like forcing him to signup using your offer which wont give affiliate his cut.

That decision is up to the program owner, but in my opinion - No. The user has actually closed the browser, backed out and left the site.

I've thought about it Michael. Not sure I will be able to make the show this year though.

The affiliate should get credit for a sale that happens after the user closes the browser and leaves the site?
Affiliates now days are getting way too greedy. Should the affiliate program choose NOT to take advantage of an income generating opportunity that does not interfere with the affiliates traffic, because a user *might* choose to come back at a later time?

Come on man!

This is the reason we aren't currently sending the email offer out immediately. In our initial testing, waiting an hour before dispatching the email has provided time for those users to come back and purchase before seeing an offer. When the user purchases, we have a way of preventing the offer email to be sent which prevents chargebacks or refunds as well.
