the so called adult filter in UK is but a real adult filter, it blocks everything by default and then they add approved sites to it rather than blocking "offensive" sites.

anyone using the internet for regular purposes would need to opt-out of the filter.

i posted this 1-2 months ago and except few, none of you motherfuckers gave damn shit about it, this is our job, our business and we should do something to protect not only our self interests but also the liberties itself.

a troll at the first page talks about damaging affects of porn, how easy we people are seriously to be fooled by nonsense studies and bs?

we all know that yet 20-30 years ago these doctors with tv shows smoking cigarettes appeared on tv within telling to public how smoking is healthy etc, but today they talk shit about cigarettes to sell those "end smoking addiction crap) and who knows what else they aimed.

don't buy every fucking so called study, most of the time what ever you see on media is plain bullshit.

again i say let's do something, we are community and we can do lots of things if we want.

Oh my, that's fucked up. It will make people mad. It surely sounds like some insane censorship shit. Did they even ask people if they want it? Where is the referendum? I'm sure most society would be against, only some religious freaks would be pro this bullshit. So soon GFY.com will get unaccessible from the United Kingdom unless a one opted out bullshit filter.

Who will decide which sites are ok and which are not? Any site that has user created content had, have or will have explicit adult content, that's how the web function.

I already posted this in the other thread:

Quote:
It is a parents role to take care of their kids. I think any of such default on filter is the rape of freedom. They will start with porn and end on political stuff censoring what's inconvenient for them. This is not right. Besides it's impossible to block all adult content and this will do more harm than good. Parents will think that all the job is done for them... which will be far from truth. While fully legit stable adult websites that care about minors will get their traffic hurt while some bullshit scam sites that just popped yesterday with nasty stuff and illegal content and malware on will find it as a great opportunity.
And I still think this would end like this.

What is the definition of "porn" ?

Is my boobs-only site considered "porn" for example?

Troll? lol, hardly. The affects on the brain from chronic porn/masturbation have been scientifically proven, you are most likely just too stupid or lazy to try to understand how it works. I doubt you have even seriously looked into the matter at all.

And just because I understand that internet porn when abused can be mentally damaging and addictive does not mean that I condone government censorship.

I wonder who will take the responsibility for costs and loses caused by this. Probably no one.
For example people who needed to access certain websites but could not because they could not opt out the filter due to busy ISP support what happens quite often or who did not know what was the problem with unaccessible site at all.
Example: A guy needs to renew his domain today worth $10.000 and he cannot access registrar site due to the filter neither contact busy ISP.
Example2: A guy needs to cancel his membership today that prolongs annually (cost $200). He just got to know by an email about his membership, but wtf he cannot access a site. ISP on phone is busy, he sent an email which will be answered a few days later.
etc. etc.

I wonder also if there will be any massage or something indicating why people cannot access a certain website. It should be. Some people don't read the news and they may not know what the fuck and why they cannot access certain websites.

On a side note most of you will take thing more serious when you will see the decrease in traffic and sales. The UK is a serious adult market and I'm sure the decrease of traffic will be significant.

I don't pretend to understand how this will work, so this may not make any sense, but...

...if I were to get internet access from (fill in the blank) service provider, and by default the provider filtered out access to "adult sites" (however that determination is made), but then I could simply "opt-in" as a customer that does NOT want this content filtered out, then I would just simply "opt-in" and that would be that, no?

Again, I don't pretend to know any of the specific details, but if what I wrote above is close to how it would work, then why would you lose traffic or sales?

That is one of the sugestions the other one is to have it turned on by default which you can turn off but will then automaticcally reset to on again by a certain time. They are also trying to get search engines to block certian types of search terms and these other measures as well

Other measures announced by the prime minister included:

New laws so videos streamed online in the UK will be subject to the same restrictions as those sold in shops
Search engines having until October to introduce further measures to block illegal content
Experts from the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre being given more powers to examine secretive file-sharing networks
A secure database of banned child pornography images gathered by police across the country will be used to trace illegal content and the paedophiles viewing it

Mr Cameron also called for warning pages to pop up with helpline numbers when people try to search for illegal content.

not too sure about a call, I had to turn up in store with ID (Im 48 and I got carded!) to get an EE phone unblocked.

I agree if mobile access is restricted so should landline providers restrict their services in the same way by default.

It seems also like they want to ban extreme porn
Quote:
The Prime Minister will also announce that pornography which depicts rape will become illegal and that it will become illegal to possess pornography which is "so extreme it can't even be purchased in a licensed sex shop
WTF they mean by this? BDSM? Gang Bang? Bukake? Spanking? Fem domination?

So what next?

Maybe same as on mobiles?

Quote:
"UK code of practice for the self-regulation of new forms of content on mobiles"[edit]

Numerous British ISPs, including BT, block many innocent sites, redirecting the user to http://btsupport.custhelp.com/app/an...ank/a_id/12756 which states:

Content blocked
In compliance with a new UK voluntary code of practice you are not able to access this site and have been redirected by the BT Content Administrator Service

This uses a barring and filtering mechanism to restrict access to all WAP and Internet sites that are considered to have an 'over 18' status. To date, these include sites which contain information on any of the following categories:

* Adult / sexually explicit
* Chat
* Criminal skills
* Drugs, alcohol and tobacco
* Gambling
* Hacking
* Hate
* Personal and dating
* Violence
* Weapons

Examples of such sites are dictionaries (e.g. http://www.urbandictionary.com/

Let's be straight with this, this is censorship and the rape of freedom of speech probably to mask unconvinced political shit.

I don't know. It's like that on Wikipedia as an example.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interne..._on_mobiles.22

I can only assume that ISPs blocked mobile accesses to it on because of "inappropriate" content. Probably because of definitions of "inappropriate" words or something.
I never really used mobile web, now it got me curious what I can access and what not on my phone.

Nope. It's people who click and decide where they click and who should have freedom of making choice where they want to click. Illegal content

is illegal and should be fought and removed by law enforcement agencies.

Don't fall for the 'Save The Children' excuse, they use the same to go to war and kills thousands of children, this is a pretext to create a mechanism for Internet censorship; porn is just the thin end of the wedge.

if there should be a filter then the way it's made for mobile phones are perfect.
you basically can't use it unless you opt out of it.
it's not a porn filter its designed to remove everything you don't wish a 8 should see, including violence, bad language etc.
people who can enjoy the internet with such limitations would not be your typical customer.

Guys, i suggest we launch a campaign against this bs, so what we need is gather contacts of all major newspapers, tvs, political parties, isps and the companies who work mostly on internet and the NGOs that fights for civil liberties.

Help gathering this info and let's start out a campaign before it's too late.

Let's hope WeHatePorn.com slips through this filter then

Of course, this was never about porn at all, just about getting the filter in place

Filtering porn: problems with the plan

Can the filters work effectively?

Filtering pornography is fiendishly difficult to do accurately. Although the technology is improving, filters set up in hospitals several years ago had to be switched off after doctors were unable to access clinical studies on breast cancer.

Even if they do work, can they be circumvented?

Some schools have used web filters to stop children accessing Facebook when they were meant to be working. But some children reportedly got around them by using “proxy websites” that re-diverted them to Facebook around the filters. Such problems could also exist for pornography – while parents think there are safeguards in place.

What is pornography?

Some women’s groups believe that Page 3 in The Sun is pornography – not a view David Cameron shares. Computer algorithms may not be the best means of deciding what is and what is not pornographic.

Do we want to live in a nanny state?

The basis of Mr Cameron’s argument is that people should have to make a conscious decision to watch pornography. But civil liberties groups take the opposite approach and accuse him of hypocrisy. It was Mr Cameron who used to decry Labour’s nanny state.

And what about marital harmony?

Some men (and women) in happy relationships may secretly watch pornography without their partner’s knowledge. This, as Mr Cameron admits, will force them to fess up or abstain. A husband whose wife finds he has secretly turned off the porn filter could find himself in trouble – possibly straining the institution Mr Cameron cares most about: marriage.

This is workable in practice but unworkable in reality. Who decides what's considered porn? David Cameron himself admits that 'page 3' type material won't be blocked. What about adult dating sites? Will they suffer because of the filter? Terrible news for the UK if it goes ahead. Watch this space...

some mp in canada is harping about it now:

http://ca.news.yahoo.com/canadians-o...214612025.html

'A Tory MP from Winnipeg wants to see Canadians "opt in" before they’re allowed to view pornography online.
Conservative MP Joy Smith says she wants to see Canada adopt legislation that requires residents to request access to pornography from their internet service providers or have all pornographic material preemptively blocked.'

however, the article and basically everyone talking about it thinks it's some cute joke

Will this change anything? I mean they seem to not care what society wants.
I put it in my sig. I guess the necessary number of votes could be gathered very quickly if biggest adult sites put some notice about it in visible place.
