I'm not sure how the laws work in England - but aren't photos federally protected under some sort of intellectual property laws?

Whether you think the photographer overstepped his bounds and shouldn't have traveled down the street and/or taken the photos - or if he was within his rights...the cop swearing at the photographer...then telling him he was lucky he wasn't punched or beaten in some way.

That's real professional.

At the very least the cop needs a refresher course in public relations.

Just to point out that in the uk the chap is allowed to take pics.

there was no reason the police chap went up to the bloke as he was doing nothing wrong.

there is no excuse for him to loose his temper. if he cannot handel the situation then he should not be in the police.

its not his job to put his views on others.

again this chap has commited no crime. he has done nothing wrong.

Interfering with a police investigation is one. Harressment - I'm thinking paparazzi here - is another. It's simple: Be a douchebag and you will be treated as such. It might be legal for someone to stand on the sidewalk, but if the police want to fuck with you they will and can - you can be standing on the street, the police can decide your actions are suspicious, search you, question, then arrest you on some stupid charge just to fuck up your afternoon.

Reminds me of that group of people that wanted to "dance" at the National Monument in Washington DC. No, it's not illegal to dance, but when you are making dozens of other tourists nervous... They will find something to charge you with arrest you and harress you.
