On this basis some GFYers might be in jail soon. I wonder if it still 'OK' to hate Blacks, Gypsies and Muslims, surely there needs to be consistency here.

I don't hate anyone. I don't hate any group, race, or religion. I don't care what people do in the bedroom because it can't be as freaky as what I do.

I believe that everyone has rights. Everyone should have the right to worship whatever god they wish, and that everyone should be able to get an education. However, if your religion comes into conflict with such basic human rights, we have some issues. Violence against women and children is never acceptable.

Personally I've always felt GFY could do without some of the racist noise that pops up here on a daily basis. I belong to plenty of other quality forums where that crap is moderated out (and partially just enforced by other posters) and they don't seem to suffer from any authoritarian crushing of free speech.

GFY is a private venue and ultimately it's up to the mods of course, but IMO it would be a better place. So many hateful and bitter people on here full of grudges, it's kinda depressing.

And there is the real problem. The little mouth pieces on the Internet would learn manners and the consequences of their actions if it was on the street. But tucked away in their little homes with no one to see them they decide they can be assholes.

Personally I personally I think more should be done to teach these creeps a lesson. Perhaps someone should figure out how to monetize going after internet douchebags.

you can categorize 99% of the so called racism on this board as forms of humor - it's used alot to rile someone up, just to get a reaction. I never seen anyone on this forum who I would categorise as a real racist. Maybe grow some thicker skin instead of calling for petty rules, because any authority acting as your mother protecting you from the outside world is not the real world.

Making anti-semitic, or holocaust-denial speech specifically against the law is an even worse idea. It simply makes Jews in the EU seem somehow worthy of a higher level of protection, and causes more resentment against Jews over there. I just pray that this kind of stupid anti-free speech laws do not come to the US.

Come on man, if I had thin skin I wouldn't even be here. Thing is, this ain't the "real world" - it's a privately owned online business forum where the owners/mods can and do implement whatever rules they want. GFY is indeed unique for a business forum in that they allow a pretty huge range of non-business related (and arguably unprofessional) stuff, though when certain lines are crossed they do indeed bring the hammer down quick.

Not really a big deal anyhow, my point was more that when times were good in the biz all the endless shit talking and trolling was kind of funny. Now that times are a little more grim for many it just comes across a little bit pathetic. Again, lotta bitter folks. Maybe I'm in the minority thinking that. Just my opinion, it is what it is....

I totally understand and agree with you. I just wish the under 25 crowd here would put down their damn iphone for a second and do something.

Almost daily there are HIA's on the train lines (human involved accidents) which almost always used to mean 'suicide'. Now its a question of whether the idiot walked off the platform while checking their mail. In the street, they are glued to them. When I see one coming in my direction I stop and wait to see if they will run into me. I usually make a sudden noise at last second. Scares the shit out of and embarrasses them. for a second or less.

It is an amazingly high tech city/country and I love it. Wish I came 20 years ago.

That's how I am, I always tell people I am the least judgmental and/ racist they'll ever meet - let them do as they please as long as what they believe isn't hurting anyone else, that's when it crosses a line. When you strike at a group of people, women, children, men or whatever, over what they believe in or color of their skin or anything, that is then crossing lines to me...

I won't get into a big long discussion about this, just wanted to get that out there... I just don't like people who judge people based on anything other than their personal .... person. Judge by who that person is, not by what you think they represent based on something so silly as color of skin, sexual preference or whatever

The fact that this ruling is about antisemitism perhaps arouses the wrong emotions -- the subject matter should not be specific and limiting. Europe has their recent Nazi past to live with and that is what was probably behind the Swiss Court's ruling.

You may be true, but let me reverse your question. what real demage is caused by few people's unacceptable opinion? won't make any difference. society has to keep those people in quarantine, not the authorities. and i smell the stench of double standards here. telling hateful things about jewish people is strictly persecuted, while no one gives a shit about other minorities in this level.
