I sure hope they get this mess worked out.

It is still unbelievable that they could fuck this up as bad as they have!

The site seems worse for me now, it isn't showing which of my domains are set to expire and which are set to renew.

I'm going to move valuable domains soon if this isn't resolved, the old system was so much better.

It is amazing how much crap (minor) I am finding does not work properly or poorly done on the site.

On hold for more than 10 minutes already. Wonder if they will be able to beat the auto-logout..

We had been on hold 40mins on Fri when moniker rep picked up. Started to tell him the latest issue,, he says "oh yeah that is wrong.." then we get disconnected.
We call back 40+ minutes on hold tell that guy we got disconnected, he tells us about the bad thunderstorms they are having in the area...ok, so tell him the issues, get disconnected.

re: the automatic log out feature... we had a rep tell us last week it was because we weren't using the new username they assigned us to login. You know the new username that they in no way notified us about...

New username is the # within the brackets of the subject of any invoice emails you receive for future reference. I had to call in to figure mine out.

:mad

so far they renewed 2 domains of mine that I didn't want renewed

they charged for the domains I didn't want renewed

they renewed a domain I wanted to renew but double charged my card

I still haven't reached a live CSR on the phone, despite being on hold several times for an hr

no response to my tickets

no ability to add privacy to the domain I did want to renew

I could log in to the site today but the interface was down with an apology message

receiving multiple emails to wire money to pay for domains that are already paid for whether I wanted to pay for them or not

I tried to transfer 2 domains out a while ago that I wanted to keep but it didn't work on Moniker's end

You guys should just relax and let the bugs get fixed, the press release states they know there is a lot of problems.

Recommending we "just relax" kind of shows a lack of understanding for how crucial the registrar is to an online business

Please tell me you are joking?

A registrar is nothing more than an online Mortgage Bank!

They are responsible for your online real estate. They have ONE job.

It's all about trust, and they have lost mine forever.

Unbelievable that anyone would give a registrar a pass like this.

It's ALL TRUST!

Yeah, for me domain registar is more important then bank account - if someone steal money from your bank account, you can recover just by waiting till you earn money again, but if your domains are fucked, you lost everything.

after using them for 10 years, im out. they screwed up so much and never communicated much of anything about how all domains caught via snapnames over the years are going to networksolutions, how everyone is going to get a new customer number but not told about it unless you call in, how this 'upgrade' was obviously not tested worth a shit. their customer service has sucked big time since key-systems bought them. i should of already left but since i almost never needed customer service, i didn't care. now i realize how important it can be. i won't be back moniker! thanks for making me lose domains permanently due to lack of communication!

A few years ago I spent a few days consolidating everything with moniker. Now I will do it again. I have not yet decided where to go next, plus I'm a little anxious that somehow moniker's new system will fuck up the move

Changed the DNS on 48 names more than 24 hours ago as my first step to pull out. Everything is still 404.

Not having a good day.

I am kind of joking, but to panic now and transfer out might cause even more issues. I will be moving everything to godaddy in the future... Just knowing you can call them at 3am if you have an issue and someone will pickup the phone is awesome.

We do apologize for this error. Despite auto-renew being turned off in the old system when the system was migrated, domains were temporarily set to ?auto-renew? and the system processed the payment. This is a known issue and the accounting team have begun voiding the invoices and issuing refunds. We do apologize for the delay but you will receive your refund soon and the domains will be removed from your account.

Let's see if / when it happens...

How for Christ's sake could they ever, ever release this..

I wonder if they ever did any testing at all, plus there's no improvement I would even notice, not a single one, it all looks like some indian third party "programming" work.

Fortunately I have only one domain I wanted to let expire in June that shows as expired, the rest is still there, so hopefully no damage, but the way the "dis"communicated this and the very idea to release this in the first place is a total disaster.

I signed up with them before they were ever bought out, think around 2007/8, after the very first acquisition still never had any issues (never even needed to use support) but now I'm up for recommendations to switch.

I finally got an email apology from Moniker's brain dead CEO Bonnie Wittenburg 9 days too late. What a load of bullshit.

Quote:
A Message from Moniker's CEO | Bonnie Wittenburg

To all Moniker Customers,

My name is Bonnie Wittenburg, Moniker?s recently appointed CEO as of February 2014. This letter comes to you with transparency and the best intentions in mind as a result of recent events that have taken place at Moniker. As you know, Moniker recently transitioned to a completely new website design which features an all new user interface for both our website and customer dashboards. Our goal was and remains to increase the products and services we offer while at the same time maintaining the tools you have come to expect from us ? enabling you to effectively manage your Web properties in a single place as simply as possible.

Since becoming CEO of Moniker, through my own observation and carefully considering the opinions of our users, it was apparent we needed to change in a big way. With the launch of this new website, we would be able to improve how you interact with our services and provide a better platform to bring further innovations to market.

I am still confident a system upgrade and platform enhancement was the right decision, but some things went wrong with the migration of our data and customer information from our old database to our new systems. Although our systems were carefully tested to avoid any major issues, an unforeseen technical problem involving a script responsible for running the data transfer did not run optimally. The manifestation of this to our customers appeared in the form of missing domains, unintended auto-renewals, and erroneous charges to payment methods on file, among others.

I sincerely apologize on behalf of all Moniker employees that this took place. I want to reassure you that no security vulnerabilities resulted from the issues we experienced during the data migration; this includes no lost domain names, no unauthorized transfers of ownership, and no functionality lost as part of our Domain MaxLock and Portfolio MaxLock products. These issues have, however, resulted in a backlog of customer support inquiries and greatly increased call volume to our support staff. Our representatives are working their hardest to resolve each and every case while providing each customer with the attention they deserve. Many technical issues have been resolved, including restoring the missing domains from client accounts and reverting charges incurred as a result of invalid domain renewals.

We are not done correcting all of the issues, our technical staff is working around the clock to fix and improve remaining problems to allow Moniker to operate at full capacity. We are listening to you regarding what features are working and what needs improvement. We value your business, your patience, and understanding that we will make this right. You expected better from us and we failed to deliver. We are working to restore your faith in the operations of Moniker. I realize apologizing may simply not be enough and promise that we will work tirelessly to show you that we care.

Thank you,

Bonnie Wittenburg

Also, usually when new interfaces are out,it is gived first to users to beta test to see is everything fine, not inhouse. That is how name.com did it when they were doing new interface, they gave users a lot of time to test new interface before switching to it.

or they can also keep the old interface available, I would be really curious about the "real" answer why they switched to something like this in the first place.

"Better interaction with users blah"? do me a favour

Nobody ever keep old interface, sooner or later they just do the switch. But what is strangest thing in this story, interface is something what should be purely graphical change, yet they managed to screw somuch things.

I just realized that grey box that says "Start Your Domain Search!" is a clickable text input...

they switched the interface because the previous one was old code and the people who wrote it were long gone. this is the interface they know as they use it on other registrars they own. you'd think since they know it and have used it for years, they wouldn't fuck up so bad when switching it over. regardless, i'm out of there.

It's understandable for them to rebuild the interface from scratch, but they should have used the old one as a blueprint to see what features domainers need to manage their portfolios. It's fucking ridiculous that I have to request each individual EPP code instead of submitting one consolidated request. Transfer outs are pending.

well they were lazy as fuck and just took the interface from another registrar they have. had they built from the ground up using the old interface as a blueprint i think people might of been more willing to put up with a few bugs instead of this total clusterfuck with an interface that doesn't work well with large portfolios at all.

I checked it today and it has critical issues. Several things don't even make sense. It took effort to get it that wrong.

I think you really have to question the managements abilities to run a company when you get such a screw up like this.

Even the response after the event has been embarrasing.

I don't expect Bonnie Wittenburg to be heading them up for long.

The craziest part is that these morons didn't build this, it's a reseller admin from some German company. Which explains why it is completely counterintuitive to all of us flag waving 'mericans. Disturbingly though that seems to indicate there was a chance to make it better before going live, instead they pulled it out of the box and flipped a switch.

I have quotes from Enom(thanks Bari), name, namesilo, fabulous, and hover. they all ended up at approx. $8.50. so now i have to look at the admin areas, dns/mx, and extras like whois privacy, parking, etc. Bari@Enom and Joel@Hover have been the easiest and quickest to work with.

This is just a friendly reminder to check your expiring domains at Moniker. The last renewal notice I got was May 31st. It's been 18 days since and they haven't sent a single renewal notice after the change to the new interface.

Moniker is one of the most difficult to transfer domains out...

My advice is RUN don't walk to another registrar.
They have sucked for years.

Looks like they are using the interface from the following site and forgot to change the reference of that site's abbreviation.

BTW, support never bothered replying to my email, did WHOIS privacy used to be $1 for anyone? It shows $4 now but I could have sworn it used to be $1 - did they delete all the previous/custom pricing that accounts had set?

It doesn't matter what Moniker is charging these days if you do the smart thing and transfer out your domains.
