What has the Right gotten Right?
It's no secret I'm not a fan of the Republican Party, however I'm really at a loss to figure out anything recently they have gotten right. There was all the fear mongering about Obamacare with death panels, being a job killer and would cause the anti Christ to rise. None of their warnings came true, today more people are insured, the insurance on average is cheaper and Obamacare has created over a million jobs just in the health industry due to more demand. Not even counting the insurance industry.
Speaking of jobs and even the economy. Despite the rights best efforts to destroy the economy with sequesters and being budget nazis the economy is doing just fine and jobs are coming back. Then there is the whole social aspect of things.. They are pro drug war, meanwhile states that have legalized pot are doing just great. They are anti sex ed and so on.. In Texas they stopped teaching sex ed in schools and stopped giving teens free access to birth control and teen pregnancies skyrocketed. Meanwhile in Colorado just the opposite occurred, they started giving out free birth control to teens and teen pregnancies dropped 40%. Then there is the can of worms about global warming.. They ignore all science on the subject and don't have any data to back up their claims but still they think they are right. Then we have green energy.. They hang on to coal like it's the life blood of the world, meanwhile the solar industry already employes more people than the coal industry and it's growing unlike coal. Hell they can't even get smaller govt or less taxes right. The last 3 republican presidents have expanded the govt and had record spending. Honestly what have they actually done right? |

So basically the only thing is taxes for rich people? Meanwhile they try their hardest to destroy this country, but it's all ok because you pay less taxes?

Anything to add other than taxes for rich people, or are you just as stumped as I am?

1. Obamacare Are you serious? This fiasco has already cost us a BILLION dollars. The only ones "benefitting" from it are the insurance companies and the Medicaid leeches. Unless you consider having your insurance cancelled and being forced to buy far more expensive insurance, for less value as beneficial. Jobs have already been lost to this monster, and just wait until the mandates kick in. As if this wasn't already UN-affordable enough, the penalty is really going to inspire the idiots once they get hit with that. Yet amazingly, you seem to think paying ridiculous premiums every month, only to be followed by an even more ridiculous deductible before you see ANY benefit whatsoever is somehow a good thing. "Well, I don't want to pay for people without insurance!" Guess who is STILL paying for them now that they have Obamacare?! You. There is no free lunch. And speaking of lunch, now we are seeing new "Healthcare surcharges" added to the bill, and this will only expand, in order to cover the cost of providing this crap to employees. Yes Virginia... you really are paying for this. In more ways than one. But wait.... let's not forget that HIPPA is essentially gone now, and the doctors operating under Obamacare are effectively government stooges now. What profound "progress". 2. Jobs & The Economy "The economy is doing just fine." What fucking planet do you live on? The economy is in the toilet, and it ain't ever coming back. Dear Leader has run up the debt to over $18 trillion. How the fuck do you think that is EVER going to be paid back? The rest of the world is not-so-silently dropping the dollar, Wall St. is so insanely inflated it's laughable, the housing market is entirely propped up by the banks to appear solvent while millions of homes sit empty and rot, Detroit looks worse than Iraq, manufacturing in the U.S. is non-existent, college degree holders are bussing tables at fucking Applebees.... seriously, do you live under a rock? 3. Drug War Defending the "war on drugs" is stupid. It's a cash cow, nothing more. With that in mind... putting that shit in your body on a regular basis is not the brightest idea. Do whatever you want, as long as it doesn't affect me. 4. Sex Ed All I have to say on this is, where are the fucking parents? It's not the government's job to educate your kids. It's yours. 5. Global Warming You've got to be kidding me. Your global warming messiah has gotten rich off of idiots buying into this hoax. The Antarctica ice shelf has RECORD ice this year. Translation: More than EVER before. "Global Warming" is a fucking tool of Agenda 21. Seems you've got more reading to do. 6. "Green Energy" There's nothing wrong with solar, except that it is not viable as a main source of energy for 7 billion people. Look at the space required to power ONE building, on a part-time / backup system basis. The whole "green energy" movement is nothing more than a by-product of the global warming tards and a FANTASY. On your wrap-up... "Hell they can't even get smaller govt or less taxes right. The last 3 republican presidents have expanded the govt and had record spending." Really? Dear Leader Big O has spent more than ALL other presidents COMBINED. Smaller government? Big O has usurped power, ignores Congress, rules by decree and executive order... (that pen has got to be close to running out of ink by now).... talks about "overriding" the Supreme Court, has lied since before Day 1 and continues to do so, expanded the police state, drone kills people over breakfast including American citizens, .... and you are hung up on "republicans". Please unplug from the television. It is rotting your mind.

I can't reply to each point at the moment, but I'll,hit 2, 5 & 6 real quick.
.2) when I said the economy is going fine, I was meaning the recovery. No I didn't actually word it that way, but I meant the recovery was happening despite actions from the right that slowed it down. The sequester cost us billions and cost a lot of jobs as did the denial of budget tactics that essentially got the right less than what they could of had right at the start. .5) the ice in Antarctica that you claim is more than ever is typical right wing bull shit, every year in the winter new ice is created, but it's thin ice that melts away in the summer. The important ice is the thick stuff and that is melting away at record pace. It's very easy to learn what the difference is in fresh new ice (ie thin ice) vs the stuff that has been there for thousands of years. If you actually care, educate yourself as you pretty much just repeated a disproven right wing talking point. .6) green energy is very real and countries that are committed to it are starting to reap the benefits. Queensland and Australia actually hit negative territory in the middle of the day, when demand is at it's highest due to solar. http://reneweconomy.com.au/2014/sola...e-of-day-63767 You can also read this article about Queensland and how they expect the coal industry will be dead by 2040. http://www.theguardian.com/commentis...CMP=fb_gu[ |

You have to admit theres some real juicy irony here, these morons go to the South Pole to look for ice, guess what they found it. Not one, not two but three ships get stuck in the ice.

That has nothing to do with solar power it's self being viable or not. The energy production side of solar is a rapidly growing market, but just like any other market we can't compete with prices on the manufacturing side. |

Solyndra was a manufacturing company, not a energy production company. Like it or not AMP, renewable is the future, and the future will drag you along kicking and screaming no matter if you like it or not. You can try to ignore it, or you can accept it.

It's funny that one failed company is the basis for you to deny the future, yet you have no complaint at the billions handed out to big oil, coal and gas in govt subsidies.

0.23% energy production for the U.S. = Fantasy energy source. Certainly not a challenger of any kind. If the U.S. is only producing .23%, do you honestly expect to see some country like Nigeria or Guatemala operating on 100% solar? Where are you going to build all the massive solar farms needed to power the US? Well, there's land in the midwest.... maybe we don't need farming. What happens when a hurricane, tornado, or hail storm destroys a solar farm? How are you going to power jets, helicopters, trains, aircraft carriers, submarines, container ships, billions of cars, factories, military machinery.... with solar panels? Right now, I pay $25 per month to power my home. No other investment required. When solar can power my home cheaper than what I'm paying now, then I'll get on board. Until then, no thanks.

China the second largest power producing nation which has almost 70% of production being coal, has stopped all new coal plants and is going renewable. Even still they only have 1% of their production as renewable. It's a long haul to recreate an entire country's power sources. It will take 20 or 30 years to get us to even 30% renewable. As far as your $25 power bill, does that include fees? Because most people pay that much just in fees for delivery costs.. |

Not so much an option anymore... blah blah blah, there really is no point to even try to debate/argue over this dumb shit anymore. |

Number 1...no it didn't. That bullshit was what Democrats "predicted" all gloom and doom when they thought they might lose some of their "free" money to spend.
Number 2...the "Sequester" was Pres. Obama's idea. Not the Republicans. |

Big O has been in charge for 5 years and you're still hung up on blaming Bush. The list of Obama's crimes can fill a book. They use fake data to make electric vehicles seem more fuel efficient than they really are. Taxes on gas are going up because of lost revenue and soon there will be an additional mileage / use tax and / or tolls. So much for "saving" with your fuel-efficient car. Obama also is preventing the extraction of up to 3 trillion gallons of oil buried under federal land in Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming, more than enough to end US dependence on foreign oil and supply our energy needs for a couple hundred years.

I used to be a hardcore Republican, but my lord the Republican party is a joke right now.Their entire strategy has been to "defeat Obama" and it's utterly failed. The Republican party has accomplished nothing.
Obamacare is the perfect example. This is a very much needed change and over all a good law; It's helped millions. It's removed pre-existing conditions and allowed kids to stay on their parents plans longer. We now have more people insured than ever before. This is win win all the way around. Yet the Republican party filed over one hundred lawsuits trying to kill this? And they lost at every turn. This has been a huge six year battle that the Republican lost. Then we have the economy. No matter how you spin it, we've had fifty-two weeks of straight economic growth. Unemployment is down too. (Sure, we can argue about the "actual numbers" but the "actual numbers" are nothing more than a higher reflection of the unemployment rate we've always used - and still the "actual numbers" are coming down too so it's a pointless discussion.) You can argue about how the median net worth is down or how income is down; Of course these numbers are down people lost their houses and jobs and had to start over again. Then we have the all mighty Republican party making big scenes about Benghazi and the IRS. No one cares how Benghazi was spun after the fact, and the IRS has done nothing more than doing their jobs. Now the Republican party is suing the President for passing Executive Orders? For doing the same thing every President before him has done, only doing it a lot less? What a crock of shit. At the end of the day are we better off now than six years ago? We are sure. Six years ago exactly half of the twenty houses on my street were empty. I'll never forget that. Now every one is occupied. The Republican needs to stop focusing on the battle they've already lost twice (Obama), start doing their jobs, and start focusing on the next election if they hope to reclaim the White House.

It troubles me to say it, but Rush Limbaugh once said something that made sense. After Bush got elected for the second time and liberals and democrats were up in arms he told people to get over it.Suck it up. You lost. Get over it. Now figure out how to work with this person and do your job. I despise Limbaugh, but in that case he had a very good point. |

Aputate: Instead of just dismissing what I have to say, why not back up what you say with some links, facts, etc? You can have your opinion of course but if you say something I said isn't true, please include a link to prove your point so we can debate it.
For example, you said: Quote:
Coming from someone who now has a little bit of experience with electric, I can tell you that this is not true, from at least my point of view. I am getting 72 kilometres to a charge, and have driven over 1200 kilometres so far, and not used a drop of gas. (I would get more to a charge if I drove less aggressively and didn't crank the AC all the time I'm sure).
