World Changing Items - Seen any lately?

I saw a few in the last couple of years and had noticed that nothing new was on my list. Means I am out of touch as obviously there are new ones.

Tesla
E-cigs
Keurig (less then I thought)

Doesn't have to huge but something where you thought this is going to hurt for "xyz corp."

A new intebation scope is now coming on the market for hospitals, ER's, etc. Before this the opening of a person's airway was done manually and was often a bitch of a procedure. This new scope is going to revolutionize all that and make intebation a lot more pleasant on the patient as well.

It's a big deal, but most people won't really register it on their radar. (until they need it done to them that is)

I think that auto-braking on cars will really go mainstream in the next few years. There's not much reason for it not to be included like air bags and seat belts.

Elli, we are no longer going to be the drivers at some point. It has been pointed out though, just one video of a driverless car running through a playground of children will set it back 100 years.

Yes, the logical outcome would be a driverless network of private and public transportation options. Remove the driver error/sleeplessness/etc and you reduce the needed following distance, increase fuel efficiency, and theoretically reduce stress for everyone. Maybe people will still have cars as we know them as hobby items, but will they be allowed on roads with driverless cars? Who knows?

I see this happening in the near future for many different reasons, even more than you mentioned above. No more DUIs. No more accidents from texting and driving or Facebooking and driving. This is a world changing and practical idea. From what I understand, they already have the grid and infrastructure system laid out for most larger cities and highways. And Google has already made and displayed the "Driverless Car". Soooooo, it's just a matter of time.

They've been saying that since the 90's. Remember The Lawnmower Man? That movie came out 22 years ago and VR was going to be the game changer back then. I think they realized how impractical it really was for anything other than high end medical procedures, research, or other industries. It never really hit mainstream like they imagined, and I don't think it ever will. I think we're past that stage of VR and into full blown brain implants and human mod chips.

It's different this time, Oculus Rift is/was ground breaking for VR.

Competition is heating up in VR and money is pouring into development atm. I'd describe Oculus Rift as jaw dropping, it's very impressive and it's going to change the way we use the internet.

Samsung, Sony & Microsoft are all developing their own headsets. As I said it'll take a few years but the possibilities are endless for VR, exciting times!

Here in Montreal there are over 240 Electric Vehicle charging stations which I think is incredible, and all of them are just by 1 company "Circuit Electrique". There are at least 2 other companies in Montreal busy installing more charging stations too.

I also saw on the news yesterday that the Canada is going to approve driverless cars. This was announced last Aug 31 2013 on Huffington Post, but now apperently its official. The UK is also ready to allow driverless cars. AMAZING!!!

But the coolest of the cool have to be the recent stories from Nasa:
Fueless Quantum Space Drive:
http://www.popsci.com/article/techno...work-says-nasa

and Nasa's interstellar Warp Drive:

Google Chrome. I can stream fucking anything to my TV with it.

I think this is going to be a game changer. Right now we have Netflix and Hulu and Amazon video, but in the future we won't need cable television - just stream whatever channel you want directly to you TV. Easy.

Big data is a game changer but not easy to see who and what is the product/producer.

Edit: yeah I edited.

The browser? I agree that cable tv is done. I want just HBO and I would drop the other channels. Once the channels catch on that they can sell themselves to our ipads etc, no one will have the big cable packages. Free TV might make a comeback.

I hope you are not in a position to loose money on it this time around.
Previously, nobody could deliver a working product or a half witted one for less than a few thousand. Now every major manufacture is either bringing one out in 2015 or working on one that works to release for $500 or less.

This time around it is bigger than smartphones.
Go demo a Samsung Gear VR and tell us that again.
Seeing is believing.

Just remember that 80% of the public gets their internet from Cable.
That is why net neutrality is soooooo important right now.
Cable owns most of the content (movies houses that produce content including NBC) and most of the ways you might receive that content.
I don't see how the cable co's can loose !

Unless someone can.... "COMPETE" WITH THAT !

I'm not sure anyone can compete as they signed most localities up for total line rights so nobody can lay a competing cable line.

I just saw the show on Vice last nice about VR in the porn world. Fascinating stuff! I see a lot of potential there, especially for the webcam side of it.
