If it plays, it can be ripped. You need to look further then just the technology.

Product advertising inside of movie.

Another example would be my site... Videostripgames.com. programmers cannot reverse engineer the programming, it is not flash. They can steal the videos, but I could care less.

I started out as an events photographer and even that field has become hell to make a buck in. Everyone has a cell phone, tablet, etc... Everyone is snapping photos... But no one gives a shit and no one is looking at the footage these days.

Where I make my money these days is from weddings, baptisms and so forth. But again it's a dying field because everyone has some sort of camera and less people are getting married each year. In fact I would have closed shop and called it quits if it wasn't for the fact that I'm able offer Collodion photography and it keeps a certain interest in my skills. However the writing is on the wall so in the next 2-5 years I'm going to call it quits and retire.

Netflix is now broadcasting in mp3, encrypted DRM, I am assuming.

I uninstalled Silverlight and Google chrome plays the movies OK (on Windows).

I only use ffmpeg on LINUX so I'll have to try ...

Just wanted to update this:
I installed chrome (not chromium) on Ubuntu,

Code:

# sudo apt-get clean
# sudo apt-get autoclean
# sudo apt-get -f install

Some assembly required BTW
Google's Chrome .deb has unmet dependencies -- do this after

I ran Netflix in an encrypted HTML5 stream (mp3?) and got an error
the x11 stream could not be opened by ffmpg.

Maybe, someone wants to duplicate this in other operating systems in confirmation -- I have done desktop captures in ffmpg on this computer in the past with success ... This technology has to be streamed or maybe there is a way to issue a player for authorized downloads and licensed to a unique user?

I wouldn't invest in piracy websites

Like I said earlier; the MPPA and the Movie Studios wouldn't license their content to Netflix if it was not DRM protected in the streams.

Can you stream it directly to your camera? That way you can record it with the camera.

Not unless your camera is running a HTML5 browser that is connected to the internet.

Right now, Chrome is the only browser capable of rendering encrypted HTML5 natively.

Sounds like a damn good idea in theory. I'm not tech savvy enough to know if it's doable though. Here's hoping that something at least resembling an intelligent followup post might address this

I think when you have big money, and a lot to lose, behind a schema like how Google and Netflix have gotten behind HTML5, that the video encryption security will be maintained.

The code and methodology would be open source (I would think (hope for)) and would be applied to licensed content mp3 -- that would include music videos too ... the Youtube solution? It is interesting that Chrome is the leading the charge and I am looking for the ulterior motive ...

For copyright owners this is a big move forward and I am guessing there is a lot of interest.

For us, encrypting live cam streaming and the obsolesce of Flash is a big deal appearing very doable in the near future.
