All of next episode centers on Mike.

The brother and girl are there to serve as wedge issues. He has to have something guilting him into not becoming what he eventually becomes to create tension. If he had no reason not to become saul, becoming saul would be instantaneous and unimportant.

I didn't think Mike was cold in Breaking Bad. The way his character was killed off was stupid and rushed. He would have seen that coming a mile away.

Yeah, every single drawn out boring episode. I often have to watch it in chapters because I keep falling asleep. It is the hobbit to breaking bads lord of the rings...

Sorry, but Saul's not a gangster or drug dealer. There's not going to be a whole lot of life or death situations happening.
Do we? or will you just eat anything that used to be food? The excuse for it being dull is that this character has no character? That's fantastic.. can't wait what they do with that!

That is not something you can do with a couple flashbacks.
You mean the same way breaking bad did in their first episode? Sorry, with established characters already present there is no reason it needs to be this dull.. If it picks up fine, that doesn't make the opening season any less stupid...

You can't compare it to Breaking Bad until it's been on a few seasons.

I agree. Series are great except that shit.

Exactly right. That's the problem with prequels or sequels. People try to compare too much to the other show. This show is building up nicely I feel. Seeming the tormented tug and pull on Jimmy to be Jimmy or Saul. To see how Mike becomes part of the team. We got a little tease with Tuco and company, but once he start to dabble more in that side, it will bring the suspense levels up too, as the risk and situations unfold.

Breaking Bad had a great premise and intriguing, but still was a bit slow building up the story as well. But with the prequel, you know the character, so you want instant reward of how you know him.

Well the last episode seems to be the turning point...I had a feeling Mike was gonna play a much bigger role, they set him up as in hiding from something....from here it had better get good quick.

I don't expect this show to be as good as Breaking Bad and anyone who does is going to be disappointed, because Saul is a lawyer not a drug dealer there will be opportunities for many interesting characters to come in and out of the show. Bob Odenkirk is a comedian and I think this show is going to be more of a dark comedy, so far I find myself laughing at the situations more than anything. Saul's appeal was his ability to deal with any situation with ease and a joke, that is until the end of Breaking Bad when he was forced to disappear.

Yeah...you are probably right. I do have a huge dislike of lawyers. BUT having said that, I found the scene walking around in the retirement home with the jello cups too drawn out...the fucking psycho brother too uninteresting (I don't care to know HOW he came to have that condition nor do I care if he ever stops having it).

I am sure that the show will develop into something interesting but they have had long enough to get my attention and they have failed. Breaking Bad grabbed you by the balls the very first episode and made you WANT to find out what the fuck was going to happen next - like a good book you just can't put down!

It's good in it's own way. It's well shot, well acted and has some sharp writing. If you're a naysayer, then what was it exactly you were looking for?

back to the BB comparison.. took 3 -4 episodes for BB to really grab my attention, and as I said earlier, wasn't until I went back and watched the 1st episode of BB that I realised just how much it grew as it went on, and wasn't balls out from the start, no matter what my original rose-tinted recollection was (not saying it was particularly slow, but the drawn out scenes with his son, the annoying as fuck skyler, the boring sister, etc).

I'm actually way more into BCS at this early stage, because now I've seen how Gilligan develops the chracters/storylines, I'm excited about what is going to unravel as BCS goes on, with kind of 'butterflies' of anticipation of 'the moment' Jimmy becomes Saul (or at least the path to him), in a way that I never was with early BB, purely because well... who could fucking know how that was going to grab you by the guts like it did.

Now I know how he develops characters & plotlines, it's all the more enthralling.

Gus didn't even exist on BB for the first 3 or 4 seasons....

It's a television series, it will evolve. It's not a two minute song you like or dislike. You haven't even heard it yet.

I also laughed hard when he was watching Matlock and making a sketch of his suit.

I knew a lawyer who did that sort of thing. Based his client pitch on whatever Television lawyer the potential client was likely to be familiar with already. Definitely a good bit of dark comedy.
