Besides the stigma both groups face, I think pay is fairly low for men same as in the US. Most pro talent are anchored to agencies who have exclusive deals with certain studios.

It's not just Japan, and it's not just straight porn. Scouting is my #1 problem impeding my success. Contributing factors to that: #1 by a longshot - My location (Tampa Bay) ...Distant 2nd, the "stigma," followed by the pay.

yes and there are a few other factors in play..... For the most part a male actor can expect :

Blow jobs = 50 - 150
Boy Girl sex (all forms) = 100 - 300
Gang bangs = 100 - 300
Bukakes = 50 - 100 (sometimes as high as 200 but RARELY)

Some guys like Evan Stone could make more but that's not the majority of men in the industry. Most male talent used to make their money by doing multiple scenes in a day, finding a new girl and using her to get himself work or getting a $100 flat fee for "representing" the girl. (But in the case of Jeremy Steele he made them his roommates)

But from the performer perspective the work is so damn hard to find these days that they're better off being a gas station attendant. And from the producer perspective the "new male talent" is ridiculously pathetic.
