Wow this is sooo cool, cutting down trees to place solar pannels instead
Six Flags to cut down 18,000 trees to build NJ's largest solar farm
So environmental friendly... Quote:

"Six Flags and KDC Solar have pledged to replant 25,000 trees over a period of seven years. Most of the trees slated for removal are in "poor" or "very poor" condition, according to Six Flags spokeswoman Kristin Siebeneicher. A forester will oversee the replanting, she added." This is a good thing happening, such a solar panel farm can power 3100 homes which is a lot... So this is a Good Deal, I say as an environmental engineer. ![]() ![]()

What's to worry? Wildlife don't need homes. As long as it makes a democrat feel good, right?

imagine what damage would cutting down 25000 trees do the current micro-system, it could destabilize the soil and so on ... On the other hand there are lot of failed solar plants around the globe right now that proves that for the moment it is not the best renewable energy source on large scale

For green people these are hard decades.. Balancing between economical advantages vs saving everything that is green is tough.. Green ppl need to learn to make good deals. I think in this case it is a good deal, in theory. Let's assume they are cutting 18k trees and populate 25k new in 7 years. And building a solar field.. If this all happens its a good deal, even if there's a complete micro-system / wildlife they destroy... If you would know what amount of wildlife is affected by using non-renewable energy sources you would shut your mouth. I've been at coal-mines, and exactly know and saw what it does to nature, for example.. Believe me: it is 10000 times better for the Nature/Planet to cut 18k trees and build a solar plant than to produce this energy with fossils....

It is whats known as investment - a temporary loss for a greater gain. Why don't you get involved and push them to replant? That way you'd actually be doing something.
People do make mistakes, even people trying to do good things. Making fun of them almost never helps, but you could actually help if you wanted. |

Forest management is done every single mother loving day in America and it will continue whether these trees make way for renewable energy or not. Yes it makes weird sense and I don't wish it on those trees, but it's better than a parking lot.
