Civil disobedience works wonders if it has a unified goal. Instead they just encourage people to join teams and pretend one team is diffrent than the other. While they are diffrent in many areas, the NSA and spying is one area they are equally fucking everyone.
man ask the japanese at okinawa how all their protesting has gone to get the US military off their island. been going on decades.

im suprised you tried to answer that question. there is nothing anyone can do to stop the defense industry watching over everything they can. wait til everyone has GPS embedded into them at birth. its to keep your child safe, of course!

It's easy for the govt to ignore them as it's another country and there is no added pressure from here in the states. However if you start protesting in very visible places and directly protesting those whom run Congress then things can be made to happen.

I was trying to make sense of why they'd waste such time and resources turning the spy cross-hairs on Americans, instead of hostile groups in the Middle East. You know, like the ones who did 911? Then a possible scenario occurred to me.

Maybe the NSA doesn't have the kind of access to telecoms and internet infrastructure in the Middle East that they do here in the USA. They'd have to deal with each of those governments first. Maybe they can't depend on every government in the Middle East to agree 100%, cooperate with 100% of what they want, 100% of the time. However, in the USA its a non-issue.

With the wide-open southern border, where anyone from anywhere can cross over without question and possibly be rewarded with citizenship, could it be that they WANT every hostile group in the world to cross over into USA via Mexico? So they can spy on their phone records and internet traffic unimpeded? And then use that information to thwart any evil intent those groups might have?

If that's the plan, it seems like a very bad idea, and a very risky gamble. But its one thing that might explain why they're so hell-bent on continually extending and passing such Bizarro-world laws.

Just my 2 cents.

You should read a book called "Three Felonies a Day." The idea behind it is that the average person can wake up, eat breakfast, go to work, put in their 8 hours, come home and spend the rest of their night relaxing and not realize that they potentially committed a federal crime that day. The reason is that there are so many laws on the books and over the years they have gotten so convoluted that just about anyone can be charged with a crime.

This doesn't mean that the cops are just going to draw your name out of a hat and one afternoon arrest you. They have better things to do. However, if something were to happen where you were involved in an incident where the authorities might investigate you then you could have problems. They start going through all these emails, messages phone records etc that they have been keeping on you and they can pick and choose stuff that might help them prove you are guilty of a crime.

You may have nothing to hide. Most of us are likely that way. That doesn't mean that you will never be involved in a situation where those things may eventually be taken out of context and used against you.

Because it's never been about watching goat herders in the Middle East. It's always been about watching us. Keeping us under control and docile.

Just look at the TSA at the airports. They've never found a single "terrorist" or bomb.
But they find plenty of pot and baggies of cocaine. It was just an excuse to give the govt. the ability to FINALLY search us. And we the people are practically BEGGING them to do it.

Disgusting.

You get blasted for it because you are an idiot.

The whole "nothing to hide so I don't care" implies that the sole purpose of privacy is to hide wrong-doing.

That is why you get blasted.

This month the Patriot Act is up for renewal and this is the defining moment as to if Congress removes the NSA's current spying power, legitimizes it or gives them more..

They have opted to give the NSA even more spying power than it already has.. "yey freedom"..

The New NSA Reform Bill Would Give the Government Even More Power to Spy on Your Smartphone | VICE | United States

Every asshole whom voted in favor..

http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2015/roll224.xml

The house has voted to allow the NSA to keep in their possession every phone call record which takes place in the US and hold on to them for 5 years. Previously the telco companies held these records and the govt was "supposed" to get a warrant to access these records. (we all know the warrants weren't happening)

With this new bill the govt will hold on to the records meaning they will have access to them once again with out warrants.

The bill also allows them to track internet data on smart phones, something they weren't allowed to do before with out a warrant.

This is what the House calls the "USA Freedom Act". I think it means freedom to spy on the USA.. Meanwhile the NSA doesn't think this is enough and are lobbying for full access to all internet traffic.
1) Buy a typewriter and stop using the computer
2) Send letters via snail mail and stop using email, facebook, etc
3) Get a CB radio and walkie talkies for your family and friends

Otherwise deal with the fact that one day they're going to spy on you because if you're not doing anything wrong you've got nothing to worry about. ie: Coming soon the Intelligent Toilet

Interesting that you mentioned TSA. They meticulously grope crying toddlers for guns or whatever, and somehow expect that to make us feel safe when we fly. All the while, a blind eye is turned to the open border.

And speaking of... here's another Bizarro-world factoid. "The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is allowing illegal immigrants go around airport security to catch planes without a photo identification required of all other passengers, a high-level DHS source tells Judicial Watch."

DHS Source: TSA Lets Illegal Aliens Surpass Airport Security to Board Planes - Judicial Watch

Welcome to the Twilight Zone.
