so let's be clear, Australians are looking down their noses at Americans while you militarize your police forces with high-tech weaponry and confiscate guns by using police with guns, give up personal rights and liberties, all while gun crime escalates.
![]() ![]() ![]() After Michael Brown shooting, Australian police get military weapons | Crikey “Specialist squads like the Force Response Unit (FRU), the military-trained Special Operations Group (SOG) and the ‘counter-terrorism’ Security Intelligence Group (SIG) were rationalised on the basis of ‘terrorism’. These squads have gradually come to have a greater influence on regular policing, particularly the policing of protests. Many of the most controversial and problematic policing incidents in Victoria since the early 1980s, including assaulting peaceful protestors and using pressure points and neck holds, can be linked to the SOG or its influence over operational tactics.” Most of the state police forces are either using or want to use their own drone units. But in Western Australia, police have gone further, announcing in 2013 the acquisition of the $400,000 Ballistic Engineered Armoured Response Counter Attack Truck (known as “Bearcat”), a vehicle whose features include “gun ports, rotating roof hatch, two electric winches, emergency light/sirens, spot/flood lights, battering ram, tear gas deployment nozzle, thermal cameras, common remotely operated weapon station and protection against chemical, biological, radiological nuclear and high-yield explosives”. |

Police in riot gear remove children at gunpoint | Gladstone Observer
New South Wales police entered a home at around 6:30am earlier in the year to remove some young Aboriginal children. The police were joined by the Department of Family and Community Services (FACS). The parents who were awoken by the police told NITV that the officers' guns were pointed at them as they were then handcuffed while their children were removed from their care. "[They used] shields, helmets, assault rifles, the mother and father taken from their beds, shaken from their beds, handcuffed naked, children marched out at gunpoint." The police said children aged between one and 13 were removed from the home. New South Wales Police said that a raid had indeed occurred but that the parents had not been charged. militarize the police while confiscating guns from civilians, good job Aus! |

TAMPA — With more guns on the streets and more people being killed, Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor on Monday implored city residents who refuse to cooperate with investigators to help stop the violence. Among those killed by guns in the last 10 days are three teenagers, one of them a 14-year-old boy shot to death over the weekend. Police also are investigating a weekend shooting that put four men in the hospital. “We get very little cooperation from the witnesses, and in most cases, from the victims in these shootings that have gone on the past three months,” Castor said at a news conference, “and historically we haven’t had much help from those out there in the community” in spite of what she described as well-cultivated relationships between the department and citizens. The incidences of gun-related violence in Tampa have skyrocketed so far this year. ***** "Castor said 12 of the 15 homicide victims were African-American. The victims also have included children who were not the intended targets of the shooters. So ... 12 of 15 homicide victims were black and the black community withdraws into itself and stifles investigations instead of being outraged like they do when a white person is involved. I don't fucking get it. Tampa police chief to residents: Help us fight gun violence | TBO.com and The Tampa Tribune . |

Here is but one small example why people in Obama's America might be wanting to arm themselves with a gun:
Couple Beat a Girl for Being in the Wrong 'Hood The problem, though, in Obama's America is that had that woman defended herself and shot one of her attackers in self defense it would have made national news for weeks with ongoing analysis about how racist the US is. Same goes for if the roles were reversed in the video. But as it stands now - "crickets". . |

so hey, keep ridiculing America with some bizarre "pub test" while you voluntarily give up your rights while militarizing your police and still have a big gun problem. |

and as for obfuscating the real issue, you're the one exclaiming our Constitution is antiquated while thinking your gun laws actually solved your problem, yet 20 years later you still have a big gun problem which you are throwing more laws at while militarizing your police, clearly revealing you're the one unclear on the subject. |

Someone's been on the gun sites pulling up 2013 articles that are mostly debunked now.
Here is the major difference between USA and Aus, well most countries I think. IN the USA you consider it your right to walk down the street and have a gun. Here and else where its considered our right to walk down the street and know nobody has a gun. So there is always going to be an argument This thread is old now, like in ANY other country it would still be current, but in the USA you can bet there has been a 1000 shootings and murders since. Maybe we can continue when the next mass shooting hits? |

umm, there's a reason that in 2015 your country is enacting new and rigorous gun laws, and that's because the legislation is a reaction to those events ~a little over one year ago.
but i honestly could not care less. i don;t think i'm better than you, i think we are equal. you're the one thinking your better than America(ns) from your Constitution to your confiscating guns and removing personal freedoms from everyone on account of a few and voluntarily i might add, all while letting your police keep their guns and firearms and militarize itself. all of which comes from Australian news sources, not gun sites, as per the links i provided prove. |

mass shooting is either 1. 4+ people shot, including the shooter or 2. 3+ people killed, including the shooter. going by #1, we have >1 mass shooting every day in the USA the last time i heard gunfire in an urban area outside of the gun range? never. |
