Wow, now I'm really scared... Are you serious right now, or it was some kind of fat trolling? Do you really live like a dog or you just kidding? Seems I've just lost my sense of humor here.

Crockett spends long periods at a time living/camping in wilderness areas. Not a bad setup for that type of living/exploring.

Why do you post the US trailer trash? Or maybe it's some Russian rustic Caucasian ghetto? They look the same to me (a woman on the picture looks Caucasian while a "building" behind her looks like it's somewhere in Kansas or Oklahoma, so I'm confused a bit).

I'd take a tent and spend a couple of days there. I just can't understand how an urban person could live in a small van for more than 3 days. What's about WC? What's about a daily shower? How can one sleep at some... I don't know how to spell it in English. What's about a normal kitchen? Not even mention that winters here are -30C and you will simple die w/o a stone-brick house which has a central heating system and a hot water/electricity.

There is actually some good ideas there, useful for some time away from the civilization and yet low investment needed to get it done

I also added the pop top roof and built a custom interior. The interior isn't finished yet but as I mentioned, I needed a break from FL where I was building it so I hit the road. I finish it all sometime next year.

The van to the side was the donor van for the 4wd parts.
That is impressive!!!!

I have heat, I have running water and electric. I also have showers anytime I need them.

Not only does the USA have nice gorecy store we also have this lovely thing called 24hr gyms. You get a membership at one and can use them anywhere in the country at any hour of the day..

I plan to eventually do the same thing in Europe in the next few years but still have lots of exploring left to do here in the US and Canada first.

You would be amazed how many women love these vans once they realize it's a full camper inside. its very bar friendly, but it's also a very hit or miss thing.. Either they love the idea or hate it.. Not much in the middle.

Probably depends on the local laws, some of which you can work around. I saw a TV show where the host's land zoning specifically prohibited building a dwelling, but because his house was mounted on a truck chassis (even though the wheels ended up hidden in a hole, with the house at ground level), and he had no services connected, it was exempt.

I have a small 8m2 'house' in my back yard. I put 'house' in quotes because it's not internally fitted out as a dwelling, but the structure is basically a miniature version of a house, with weatherboard cladding, iron roofing, guttering, fibreglass insulation, ceiling space, raised carpeted floor etc. It's fine as a workshop, but it would drive me mad trying to live in a space that small. I do still plan to sleep in it one night, just to try it out.

This.. It's not really a one size fits all here in the US.. In cities and towns building regulations are much more strict as they want to keep property values high and not have a bunch of dangerous dwellings.. However in more rural areas you can get away with much, much more. Some areas you can still build a home with logs like 1800's cabins with no electric or water if you wanted to..

It really just depends where you are.. You go to FL and they are crazy as hell with building codes, but go to rural CT, MA, NH or places like NM ect..ect.. And you can easily get away with building storage container homes or these tiny houses..

Hell another guy who used to live in a van like mine he did the "Home is where you park it book" built a freaking tree house up in Oregon as his home.. LoL

Into minimalist living or design? Some pretty rich folks are into former one, not that much into the first one (well.. Warren Buffet maybe).

There you go. You can build those small houses pretty easily if you do not connect them to electricity or water or any grid.
I read an article about that and basically that was the main difference maker.
I will try to find that article.

Yea FL has gone so far as to make it illegal to live in a home not connected to the power company. If you try to go 100% solar they will deny you your occupation certificate or take it away if you already have it..

That was some lovely Rick Scott work there paid for by Duke Energy.

My girlfriend is moving to Cabo full time, and is selling her tiny place in Austin. I've stayed there, and the location is great. Chill neighborhood as well. Mostly RVs, but a few of these tiny park homes.

In Russia they do have a central heating system, it's cheap. So they can not even imagine people in Europe still choose to live with their own private gas, coal, oil or wooden heating systems. Because it's cheaper and they have control over it. Once it's central you're fucked by high tariffs.

Why would you think I'd need to eat out? My solar system powers a fridge/freezer combo (dual zone whynter 64qt). That's what the opening in the cabinets is for. Above that is a sink with running water. I also have a butane stove.

I can cook anything that doesn't require a oven or a microwave. I may redo the interior next summer and rework things so I can add one of those RV style oven/top burner stove set ups just to expand the cooking abilities a bit.

This van will eventually get sold and I'll build something new perhaps in 2017 or maybe I'll go to Europe for a year or two and travel around in a cool van over there.. That is as long as they aren't speaking Arabic in Paris by then..

Live life today.. Don't grow old and get grumpy like Baddog..

Why do you believe I have no shower? I take a shower everyday, unless I'm out in the woods. Your mind is as small as your Soviet era apartment...

I'm not in FL today...

i was just curious. i didn't think you'd be able to have all that in that van. i thnk doing what you're doing would be fun for a year or two but i couldn't live like that long term, especially not with kids.
