This is the consequence of making people poorer.

Quote:
WASHINGTON â?? Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders fares a bit better than rival Hillary Clinton in head-to-head matchups against Republican presidential contenders, a USA TODAY/Suffolk University Poll finds, and he has pulled within 10 percentage points of her for the Democratic nomination.

The nationwide survey, taken Thursday through Monday, underscores how formidable an opponent the 74-year-old democratic socialist has become against one of the Democratic Party's most established figures.
People vote for the people who will improve their lot. Who sound as if they can make a difference. This is why Trump appeals to many. And Clinton appeals to more, and Sanders appeals to maybe even more.

The Republicans hold the dream of aspiring to be better. Which is rarely matched by their policies. Unless you're earning 6 figures. The Democrats are the alternative and the choice of those not so well off. As that group grows, the Democrats votes grow.

It's the consequences of making people poorer. Same will rant about things being free. About how they strived to get ahead. Then rant about basics having their funding reduced. Or them having to pay more in taxes. Or more for an iPad made in the US.

The downside is when the Socialists forget who their core supporters are and swing so far left, they lose voters. Which is what's happening in some European countries.

Will be interesting to see how many these percentages relate to in actual numbers and the numbers who will vote for a Republican.

Can someone explain this please.

Quote:
Mr Sanders overwhelmingly won the New Hampshire primary, the second contest to determine the nomination, and effectively tied with Ms Clinton in the Iowa Caucuses, the first round of voting.

Ms Clinton however has already massed a large number of delegates to vote for her at the nominating convention on account of having stronger connections with the Democratic Party establishment.
How can she have delegates ready to vote for her, if the people haven't voted in a Primary?

Maybe you weren't paying attention when this was explained in another thread.

Those without will always be attracted to those who promise much in exchange for a pencil mark.

Gangsters have been earning loyalty in their communities for centuries by providing them with food, security, clothing, and other essentials. In ancient Roman times they had the Coliseum to distract the poor with a sparkling toy.

What does "making people poorer". Even mean?

That again is the entire problem. This is the USA you're talking about. The standard of living is insanely high.

People should go spend time in REAL poor countries. Where lack of political/infastructure/business systems exist making it REALLY hard to succeed. They would be kissing the soil America was laid on.

This "making people poor" in the USA is a joke. Making people have a poor MENTALITY is the problem.

Agreed. It's an age-old practice.

MetaMan poverty is relative, like wealth.

@paul: search 'super delegates'

super delegates - Google Search

The USA is not a parliamentary system so there is no head of the party's ticket who becomes PM that is selected by the party.

The primaries are not a ''real'' election. They are a party nominating ''selection''. The parties can make their own rules more or less.

This sort of explains it

Quote:
A "superdelegate" is a delegate to the Democratic National Convention or Republican National Convention that is seated automatically and chooses who they want to vote for. DNC superdelegates include distinguished party leaders and elected officials, including all Democratic members of the House and Senate and sitting Democratic governors. Other superdelegates are chosen during the primary season. Democratic superdelegates are free to support any candidate for the nomination. This contrasts with convention delegates that are selected based on the party primaries and caucuses in each U.S. state, in which voters choose among candidates for the party's presidential nomination.
Superdelegate - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia => more detail

Our primaries in the USA are popularity contests designed to give the party supporters some voice in the selection process and not a real binding election.

So the UK has a "House of Lords" which is mostly people selected by Governments to double check laws. You have similar to make sure the country gets the President they want.

And they call that democracy? And Trump is fucked whatever the people want, probably Sanders as well.
