A 6-year-old is shot dead, and a community demands change

You think "black lives matter" peeps will show up for this one?

Quote:
Enough is enough.

Through the tears, through the impassioned speeches, through the demands for justice, this is what the people want. This is what they demand.

A day after 6-year-old King Carter was killed by a drive-by shooter??s bullets, a community in Northwest Miami-Dade emerged angry. And determined.

Sunday??s rally brought out neighbors and leaders, all in the same frame of mind: sadness mixed with resolve.

??This is not a single person's problem. This is not a single Zip code's problem,? said Miami-Dade school Superintendent Alberto Carvalho, who broke down in tears.

I've been to that part of Miami. I bought a cup of coffee and paid with a $20. The clerk ignored me, so I demanded change!

So the krux of the matter aside from the senseless killing is that it's a black-on-black crime and thus the Black Lives Matter crowd is choosing to remain strangely silent, yes? I've been looking over the 'comments' section below that article and anyone who posts anything even hinting of this or even obliquely commenting about it are being slammed as racists.

Ask me 30 years ago if I thought that in 2016 there would be a larger racial divide in the US than there was in the mid-80's and I'd have very likely said no. Yet here we are...

I wonder if BLM will branch off and start a 'start snitching' group. You know to combat all the black on black violence and end the code of silence regarding crimes like the one in the article the op posted.

Just like 95% of other blacks he blames everyone else for black on black crime. Especially illegal Mexicans who work 14 hours a day.

in the coverage I've seen of this tragedy I view a mostly Black community (and Black community leaders) expressing grief and outrage over a profound loss. The entire reaction is in keeping with the praxis of the movement y'all disparage

sickening that some peeps choose to take cheap shots at a movement aimed at challenging systemic injustice (systems that would have impacted negatively on King Carter had he lived long enough to experience them) on the back of a murdered child

Well said. I agree 100%. The idea of BLM is really directed at unjust law enforcement incidents concerning suspected racial prompting. I'm not sure why there is a large misdirected notion by observers that the movement is about anything else. Makes no sense a child's death gets dragged into something it should not.

In Mexico, annual deaths resulting from firearms total

2014: 13,50513
2013: 16,119
2012: 18,598
2011: 20,870
2010: 20,491
2009: 14,661
2008: 10,434
2007: 6,787

Been a few years since its been as low as the US and in general Guns are illegal in Mexico.

Out of an estimated 15 Million of them 2 to 3 million are registered and those belong to cops, Politicians and the bodygaurds etc.

Guns in Mexico ? Firearms, gun law and gun control

Boris will blame it on instability and anti terror in Caucasus region. Of course its 100% bullshit and highest murder rates per 100K are in Moscow and in Eastern part of Russia. I suspect hard liquor is the one to blame.

Uhmm... yeah. A "movement" that ignores with a near 100% track record of blacks causing the unreal volume of black on black crime, black on black murder and black on black violent assaults which make up nearly 100% of the "problems" blacks face in terms of safety and security to spend endless effort calling out a single cop involved in a single incident.

So fuck you and your "cheap shots" bullshit.

Al Sharpton isn't out protesting a black death when its at the hands of a black killer.... ever. We don't hear about "Black Lives Matter" when its the 100s and 1000s of daily black on black crimes. Thats the only "systemic" thing going on in this issue.

All lives should matter. But if you're going to single out "black lives" to make a point, then at least be fucking honest about the problems and the solutions, not point the finger at a random incident which is statistically irrelevant to the actual problems.

We have North Caucasus with a permanent anti-radical Islamist war since 90s and it makes 90% of homicide in Russia. It's like Gaza Strip in Israel.

this + 1001 other videos about that. Since North Caucasus is a part of Russia, a homicide rate there is a part of homicide rate for the whole country.

On the other hand, a homicide rate in Moscow is the same as say in Berlin (not even comparable with the one in NYC for example).

As about the guns. Here you can get a permission within two weeks. If you have no criminal past and you are not a junkie/alcoholic/psycho, you can legally buy your own AK47 in any gun store here.

First off, da fuck does Sharpton have to do with this? I swear he's like a shill for y'all at this point, an easy target to deflect attention away from the real work being done by those actually invested in creating a better future, for all of us.

In terms of 'Black on Black' violence (I'll hold my tongue on that and adopt your parlance), while I appreciate the support from makko he's not entirely correct. BLM is about more than fighting against law enforcement brutality. It's about challenging the entire status quo that allows these conditions to occur, and reproduce, over and over. If you don't see the problem not surprising, the beauty of systemic injustice is that it's not readily evident to those not negatively impacted by it.

As to “a random incident”? Don't even know where to start with that. I suppose if one were looking at the history of the world in eons absolutely, these repeated occurrences of state-sanctioned oppression and violence all over the nation, decade after decade, originating from the same twisted social conditions would be a random statistical anomaly.

My central point though: 'Black on Black' crime (in the gang-related sense of the word you mean it) is something the movement is striving to resolve, by fighting the conditions that cause this in the first place. nothing is being 'ignored', it's fucking central to the cause because none of this ish occurs in isolation.

All lives should matter. Would be really fucking cool if we as a society and series of institutional structures could achieve that.

As to the 'cheap shot'? Totally stand by what I wrote. Until I posted not a single person in the thread even acknowledged that a life was lost here, instead it was mockery of a movement that is not responsible for this death, that is actually fighting to create a safer future.

As to the 'fuck you', expected a higher level of rebuttal

amani

We have 12% of our population committing 85% of the gun related murders. We can explain away a bunch of murders too. Doesn't change that fact that they are committed within our border, much like those in the Northern Caucasus.

60% of Russian murders have been committed during domestic disputes or drunken brawls between wedding parties Their "Caucasus region" is far less dangerous than our ghettos.

Yes, Black Lives Matter is talking non stop about black on black crime which is the true plague of the black community in every single city across the nation... said no one, ever.
