There was an off duty police officer working as a security guard at the club, and he traded shots with the gunman. A good guy with a gun does not mean the bad guy with a gun is shot and killed - That's what happens on TV, not real life.

Considering most mass shootings occur in liberalized "gun-free zones" it's not surprising most aren't stopped that way. Even most of those instances were in schools and such where the "good guy" weapon had to be retrieved from a vehicle or something along those lines. If they had them on them even more lives would have likely been saved.

Who has ever stopped a mass shooting ever? Police excluded of course. The fact of the matter is that shooters pick soft targets they do not go for the local SWAT HQ...you would need lots more people carrying to make soft targets hard...schools would have to be armed, concerts, discos, people carrying on the streets...it would be the wild west all over again...if anybody thinks this will decrease overall shootings then LOL

Once again.... We had a trained police officer who was armed and went after the gun man and fired shots at him and still fifty people died and fifty people wounded. A good guy with a gun does not always win.

This is insane. Right now, in my house, I have the same exact weapon that the United States Marine Corps trains with. And please don't tell me that the weapon I have is different from what the Marines use; One of the first things they teach you at Paris Island is to fire one shot at a time. It's the same exact weapon with the same exact purpose - and we hand them out to anyone who fills out a form.

It's too late. We can't put the tiger back in the cage. There are millions of these assault rifles out there.
