Republican health care plan.. Man up boy!
A conservative GOP lawmaker says he “made a poor choice of words” when citing a decision to delay treatment of his son’s broken arm to point out the benefits of a health care system in which consumers bear a greater share of out-of-pocket costs.
Rep. Bill Huizenga stirred up controversy earlier this week after telling Michigan news site MLive.com that he and his wife opted to place a splint on their son’s arm and wait until the next morning to take him to the doctor rather than seek immediate but more costly treatment at an emergency room. Republican says son's broken arm was poor political point on health care - CBS News Republicans are bad mkay.. You have to love it. He claims he made a "poor choice of words" not that he made an actual bad fucking decision. This guy dindo nuttin wrong! Perhaps Trump can name him the Surgeon General! It's quite ok, to tell your kid with a broken arm to just wait till the morning to see the doctor because it's cheaper! Keep in mind this is a guy whom likely has better health insurance than any of us can buy. Meanwhile he choose to use his sons broken arm to gain political brownie points rather than get him medical attention. Man up boy, I have votes to win! |

Worst thing to do, pain is usually one of the last symptoms to manifest. When my kid was 11 months old he got RSV and I thought it was a cold didn't take him to the doctor, ended up in the ER and 3 days in the hospital. Learned that lesson the hard way.

He knew it was broken they put a splint on it. The reason they didn't go to the emergency room was to save money. Would you opt to save money as your first concern if your kid had a broken arm? He said this with his own words. It's not a debate if they weren't sure if the kid was hurt. He knew his kid was hurt and waited till the next day to save money, then uses it as political rally cry.. |

My kid has broken her leg and her arm, and in both cases we surely didn't go to the ER. With the leg we went to the doctor and with the arm we went to urgent care. (Ironically, even with health benefits it's much cheaper to go to urgent care and just pay for it out of our pocket.) You only go the ER when it's life threatening. I've been to the ER twice in my life and both times I was unconscious....

I agree with you about not always going to the emergency room. When I took my son there were 2 welfare moms that were there, there reason? To get free food & diapers for their kids while waiting, then they left, as their babies weren't actually in need of a doctor ![]() |

One time our kid was sick and gave her some cough medicine. A short time later she was out cold and stay down for a bit longer than we expected. Then we discovered she had swallowed the entire bottle of cough medicine behind our back. Shortly before full panic mode set in we call my wife's mother, who worked as a nurse for decades. She told us not to worry to just let her sleep it off.
