Tech Tube Scrapers ??> WP-Script vs. XWPThemes

Anyone care to compare WP-Script and XWPThemes for scraping embedded videos ? I remember someone saying that one is better than the other, but I don't remember which.

WP-Script seems to have a shit ton of sources, and it looks good. But if it's got problems, I'll take stability over aesthetics and unnecessary sources anytime.

See sig. It can scrape embedded videos from all existing tubes, from sponsor hosted XML feeds, JSON, CSV and text dumps. It can parse cam site feeds (livecam embeds, model profiles / descriptions etc), sponsor hosted galleries, online shop feeds and everything else. Actually it can import any type of content sources and generate sites like this on autopilot - fire and forget.

Never tried wp script so cant say what is better but i have been using xwpthemes plugins for around 2 years and love them

This, their themes are very quick and do the job well. They also have a good free support if you buy themes.

ask boneprone how well this plays out. be sure to ask how well protected you are with a 'i just used their embed codes' explanation against being sued for copyright infringement by the content owners.

Thanks j3rklues. Fast themes is important -- especially since WP is so damn bloated to begin with.

at the end of the day, you are trying to publish on your own site and monetize content for which you have no rights to.

and yes, people have been sued in this biz for doing exactly this.

Of course you are 100% correct. But this statement sounds exactly like something written in 2006 -- when the tubes were just taking off -- and everyone was trying to figure out what to do about it.

2257 is law. But few take it seriously. Too many offenders, and not enough bureaucrat monkeys to enforce it universally.

We prefer wp-scripts. Have no experience with the other. They actively update their operation. Sometimes multiple plugin updates a week I've seen.

I have a problem with doing something where i'm risking a possible lawsuit in the millions for possible gains in the 1000s.

Let me tell you a story about "everyone is doing it". There are 2 older members of this forum who were doing something with domains, and saying along the way, "everyone is doing it". They all had similar attitudes to you. All of them are serial narcissists and don't understand why they can't just do what they want, when they want and without consequences.

The first trademark lawsuit they faced was for $28,000,000.00 for doing something which earned them around 6,000.00. The second was for $40,000,000.00 for doing something which earned them even less.

Boneprone among others was doing exactly what you clowns are talking about. He found himself being sued. His sites went down immediately and he went dark. He probably settled but i seriously doubt it was pretty for him.

You want to scrape content and publish it and monetize it. You don't own the rights to it. Legally, its all very cut and dry.

Personally, i could care less about the right and wrong of it. Thats on you. My point was simply that you willingly draw a massive target on your back where all it takes is one lawsuit and you being named in it to end your financial life. Forever.
