Amazon lockers are great. I can get things delivered to me while I'm on the road. They only have them in the larger cities but it's very convenient.

Service in the USA is excellent. Fast free delivery with Amazon Prime. Businesses are used to ordering items and awaiting delivery -- from national or regional sellers a lot of the time. You only send personnel out 'shopping' retail purchase in an immediate need emergency. Even the mom and pop restaurant has delivery of supplies and perishables daily. Totally different type buyer ...
I think you are missing the point really. Businesses buy a lot of standardized items. A box of paper clips may vary in quality but they are still paper clips. Industrial supplies are similar: a machine belt might vary in quality depending on the manufacturer (origin source) but it is of some standard size. Nut and bolts (fasteners) are like that too. A rubber O ring is a standardized item too -- only the quality might vary by origin. As far as the consumer goes -- Amazon is not a replacement of Saks Fifth Avenue or Lord & Taylor -- but I doubt most of you ever patronize them (or the like). Amazon is 'mid-market' and aggregates a large selection. eBay is like a global flea market. I bought a very nice Woolrich shirt on a closeout -- something you would find at Saks Fifth Avenue or Lord & Taylor LOL bought some junk made in China too at 1/3 less that Walmart would get.  |
