What are your image-based sites running on now? (TGP / Pins / etc.)
Any current advice on CMS and anything else required for image-based websites? TGPs, Pinboards, anything similar. I don't need traffic trading or community/user functionality on the site. I've seen many posts from people saying WordPress should handle a small image-based website without any external scripts. That's true, and I currently have that, but it's not "smart" and so the website remains very small indeed.
The problem is that my site isn't CTR testing different thumbs for each post, and the related images aren't based on history or a prediction of what would have higher CTR if displayed on the current post, and the same underperforming thumbs continue to show up in all areas of the site. Is it a theme or a plugin, or more likely both, that would handle this in WordPress? I could be getting many more clicks and time on site if the users were seeing an optimized set of thumbs that they actually wanted to click on, so this is really holding me back from growing much at all. I'm not trying to change the game with image galleries and text, and I'm realistic about that, but I just know this website could be much more competitive almost instantly if it had this functionality. Must I buy my website a soul, so that it can see, and learn, and strive to make better decisions in the future? |

At this point, you might as well hire a dev on Upwork or something to code you a custom script.
Start small with your basic features and grow (add more features) as your sites gain traffic.

I don't know the exact details of what I want, but I'm almost positive that it's out there somewhere... as bad as that sounds. I wouldn't know what to ask for in a custom script so the freelance route seems risky.
We had most or all of this CTR functionality in the TGP scripts 15 years ago, but now I've just been hearing WordPress is enough. It doesn't seem to be enough, but maybe I'm missing something. Mechbunny TGP Script may be close to it, but I hear it never really took off and it's now abandoned (taken off the top menu of their site). And the demo site for it just doesn't connect. From what I can tell in the product specs, it can do "homepage sorted by CTR" which is great, but it can't take CTR in to account when choosing related posts (instead its only based on title/keywords, no more than WordPress can do already). WP-Scipt seems to be still alive and kicking, and I've heard good things, but none of their plugins and themes seem to even attempt this. xPins has a demo site that does connect. The page loads very strangely for having only 6 pieces of content to show. It's a bad script or the host can't handle it. Either way, not a good look, and I don't think it has the functionality anyway. That's all I've found so far I think. |

I guess TGP was the wrong way to put it earlier, because I don't want to just link out to FHGs, but I do want that CTR-based functionality that the old TGP scripts have. I can't understand why it's not a feature in everything. I'm thinking more like how Redtube handles image galleries. Basically the same tube system behind it that runs the videos, but its for image galleries instead, and the image gallery has a block of related galleries below it, just like you'd see related videos below the content of a video page. Redtube and others aren't just showing related videos based on titles or keywords or tags... or are they? I think all of the big sites are determining related videos through all kinds of stats and measurements to try to squeeze out more clicks, pageviews and view time, but at the very least they must be accounting for CTR. Why wouldn't this be a thing? We have the technology... we can rebuild it. Merge the concept of "Productivity based thumbnail rotation" from ST5 in to something like Mechbunny TGP script, or somehow get this functionality in to WordPress. But it's still not just the thumbnail rotation either, it's the related content itself. It should be testing the placement of different related content in these blocks (different image galleries or videos) and then using the CTR to refine which related content is truly more related (got more clicks) and not just which thumbnail to the same content was more popular. Sorry if it sounds like I'm arguing here. I'm just confused. Last edited by Trichstir; 06-19-2020 at 07:26 PM.. Reason: A little added to the end about rotations... |

TL;DR: think of the related content block as ad space.
The system tests the productivity of both thumbnail and target content itself, gathers data (ex: system finds that Thumbnail 3 for Blonde Video 1 is the most popular thumbnail for that video, but 99% of the clickers immediately close the whole site). The system programs the robots to act accordingly (disregard high CTR on misleading thumbnail and penalize it instead, or on the other hand boost the placement of thumbs for a video that has very high average view time but low view count), and the system refines itself over time toward the metrics that are good for both SEO and users. (I know this system isn't anything revolutionary, but if it's really not being done at all in the related content blocks on adult sites then there must be a reason.) |

Wordpress is pretty much the only current choice
Mechbunny TGP was great but it is not supported or for sale any longer. |

Dont think this is going to do what he wants either.
OP. From what I have read your going to need custom all the way. But one of the biggest tricks is going to be the quality of what you are posting for the traffic.

The quality of content? Yes, of course, but if two sites have comparable quality content, the one with this system will outperform the other. It'll be a measurable difference too (avg time on site, pages per visit, etc.)
Could something like this system be done as a WordPress plugin if its only job was to handle the related content block? There are plenty of "related posts" plugins with thousands of sales, and even the super pro deluxe models of these plugins wouldn't compete with this kind of performance testing. If anyone is out there who knows this stuff... make this and you will be able to sell it. Not just for porn sites, either. I might look in to getting something custom done, but I know I would definitely buy something like this if it was available. It would use more server resources, but that's the only downside I can think of. So if anyone wants to get this done freelance, you better make sure the developer knows how to optimize and can test this at a decent scale. That's my concern with getting it done for myself. |

Why not try contacting one of the old tgp script developers and see if they are interested in making a new script? Adding what you want to a exsisting script won’t be that much work

In theory what you asking could be accomplished by mixing wordpress/ST or TGPX.

Tons of sites using SmartCJ, this one might help you. It's kinda all in one CMS
Looks complicated and as far as I know they don't have manual, but you can always find someone to set it up for you. Here is the link: https://smartcj.com/ |

The plugin allows you to import with ease Atom, RSS, XML, JSON feeds, HTML pages and CSV files of any format into WordPress posts and pages. The internal structure of XML feeds is recognized and parsed automatically. With CyberSEO Pro you can grab blog-style RSS feeds; Ebay, ePN, GdeSlon.ru and Yandex.Market feeds; YouTube, Vimeo, Flickr, IGN, Ustream.tv and DailyMotion feeds; adult tubes (Brazzers, Nuvid, Drtuber, Pornhub, RedTube, Tnaflix, xHamster, xVideos, YouPorn, GotPorn, Tube8, Xtube etc); adult webcams (AWEmpire, BongaCams, Camsoda, Chaturbate etc); hosted video XML feeds (SmartScripts, NATS formats); Google Blog Search, Yahoo Answers, Flickr, Twitter, Reddit, Instagram, IGN News, Yahoo News, Bing News, CNN, CBS, NBC, BBC, The New York Times, ABC News, Fox News and many-many more. I'm a totally newbie webmaster.
I just found this topic interesting to share what I have/plan. I have a picture blog which is in Wordpress. I use a picture blog based responsive and minimalist theme in there. As I am not a good programmer/developer, I use a good gallery plugin. Now, I believe any theme is good, if there are not a lot of complex thing to handle. And keeping the site fast is also super important in this industry (little bragging :D , that's why I don't put any pop-under/pop-up/ad (against my philosophy to provide quality content, as well)). And I am here to learn still a lot from all of you ![]() |
