I want to be able to bill my customers for some stuff on my site. Would you recommend Epoch over CCBILL or vice an versa? and why ... If possible I need the biller to have postback script easy to setup Thanks! |

First question, what kind of site(s)?
Second question, recurring or one-time purchases? Last question, why not both? |

Epoch an ccbill seem to charge a recurring 500$ so I'd rather pick one and not both, unless there is a benefit in registering for both. Does it mean you can transfer money to your paypal? I thought paypal didn't allow adult. Thank you both! |

Paypal do not allow adult in a stand alone sense, however if you are billing via epoch, paypal is an option offered via epoch. epoch is the only way to legitimately offer paypal as a billing option on an adult site. As others have said, in an ideal world, have both epoch and ccbill, but if you are just choosing one, then I would suggest epoch because of the paypal option |

Basically, if you want to bill your customers with Paypal - you'll need Epoch. If PP is not the main point (or if the $500 is pretty unwelcoming for you) I guess Centrobill can help. Shoot me an email with more details.

Thanks all of you who have responded.
The recurring $500 is a bit daunting given the size of my business and I am still wondering if customers will want to pay for my content (so much free stuff out there). Regardless, I will go ahead because I won't be happy if I don't try. ![]() |

Both are solid IPSP's that have their pro's and con's. Both pay on time like clockwork.
One thing to consider: if you're small, but want affiliates to also promote your site, CCBill may be the better option due to their affiliate system that Epoch now lacks.

Go with EPOCH, CCBill's customer service has diminished over the years and it pains me every time I need to call them.

If I use IndieBill I get accepted no issues for any reasonable site - are epoch and ccbill the same, or do they have an arduous "application" process?

I'd be a bit worried if a billing company did not do any due diligence with new applicants.

Between those two, I recommend Epoch. I'm not a fan of ccbill's support - they respond, but they are really just trying to get you off the chat as soon as possible whilst helping you or not. Lots of strange issues with postbacks (they claim to send a POST but nothing is hitting client's httpd at all) too.

At first I was with CCBill... they are dicks. if they have an issue with you website, they send you an error code (to which you have no idea what it means) so... you have to email them back, this then creates a ticket, to which you then wait for them to answer (about something they have raise with your site) hopefully they explain everything (but doubtful) but maybe you have to answer them back again, which cause you a further delay as you have to wait again in there system...
Anyone one day, they had an issue with my site, without any warning, they pulled the plug, no warning, no explanation, I called them on the phone and just got a very blunt person that politely told me, in not so many word they didn't want to know. So I went with Epoch (Paycom at the time) I have a sales rep 'Frank', who still talks to me now and work their, if I have an issue and email tech support, I get a real person reply, likewise if they have an issue with the site, a real person emails you and tells you in English (not in a code). I can even tell you half the names of the people that work tech support. As above, they use paypal as an option, getting around the paypal policy "adult services" policy in a very clever way and they can set up all sort of things for you... if you email a real person at tech support. No tickets, no codes, real people, real nice! never looked back!

Epoch and CCBill are both excellent. If you'd like to have an affiliate program, CCBill is your better option and, if you have the sort of customers who like to pay with PayPal, Epoch is. You mileage may vary, but, in my experience, Verotel do not pay.

Last I checked, Epoch doesn't process for Tangibles (DVDs).
Of course, that would be great since PayPal likes Tangibles to begin with.

True, but I think this only works for European users, and the site owner must both live in and have his business located in Europe.
Except for that, Both CCBill and Epoch are excellent. Their services are never down, they are never late on payments, they provide lots tools, and both offer truly excellent support. Also you don't have to stick with just one provider - you can use both. Look into the "Cascade" feature. And if you're shopping, check out Segpay.com too. They have been around forever and always willing to listen and consider new ideas. You may also be able to save a little on the transaction fees too!

CCBill has an excellent $_POST back for sales, declines, etc.
The even allow for us to send a few variables on our own, and then just pass them back along with theirs. The documentation is pretty good, but eventually I just asked for a test transaction, and studied the $_POST myself. It was good.

Nah, that's old news. You're referring to the original pilot program which was for EU only. But we've been accepting PayPal in the US since January 2015 and it's exceeded all expectations.

How many threads are there on GFY about Programs not paying? They are always NATS Programs, never CCBill. So that alone puts CCBill on the Mount Rushmore of processors.
Epoch is also a solid company and offering PayPal is fantastic. BUT they discontinued their affiliate system so if you want other people to promote your website then that leaves you with either CCBill or NATS. Also if you want multiple Billers (not just CCBill and Epoch) then NATS is a good choice. So it really depends on your business goals, needs and size of your operation CCBill: Do I wish their Support was US based and better? Yes Do I wish their Admin portal for both Affiliates and Program Owners was more modern? Yes Do I wish their scrub wasn't so damn harsh sometimes? Yes Do I like asking then answering my own questions? No
