I was observing free hosts during years and they all failed, but i think they had a common culprit - they had no ads or very little ads . I think it would be better to offers quality host with ads and seo optimization then crappy host without or little ads.

There was a really popular one (I cant think of the name) that became widely used because it was accepted at the hun.

One day the host just decided to re-direct all the pages hosted there. Needless to say, all the hun listings went bye bye.

The were also a few sponsors that let you use a domain name (70.00 domain name days) to promote them.
