Seems like Truckers are high demand and short supply. No one wants to be a trucker because they believe they will be replaced by self driving trucks in the near future. Until then, truck drivers are making bank.
I have a friend of mine who couldn't find a decent job to save his life. Money was so tight for them. He started driving, entry level position job was $80k with no experience other than truck driving school. A few years later he is making almost twice that, and a company in Texas paid for him to move out there...

The problem is most guys want to run home every 2 weeks and then they are lucky to make $50-60k so at that point it's not worth being away from home. For myself, I don't do it long term.. I'm running till end of year then I turn my lease truck in and go vacation for 6 months or so. Maybe I go back, maybe I go do ebay/amazon again.. I just like having different options and with Trucking it's something I can leave then go back to at anytime and I wanted a break from the ebay stuff for a bit so I took a year off of that. That's kinda my thing, I like income sources I can start or stop when ever I like so I can go do other stuff.
