I remember when the NRA was about gun safety. I kid you not - they used to sell us yellow tinted safety glasses, and shooting gloves. They held classes on firearm safety. This was back in the day when everyone had rifles. Back then, anyone who had a handgun was in law enforcement, was the victim of a violent crime, or fucking odd. Called big money from the gun manufactures once the NRA turned into a political lobbyist group and could buy politicians. Could be true, Difficult to say for sure. Recent lawsuits are getting expensive. Could be a donations gimmick.

One problem I had with the NRA.
I joined for a year back like 93. Constant calls for more money. I could have called and asked them to cut it out, But I didn't know that at the time.

Gun manufacturers are in financial trouble. Remington not too long ago had to file for bankruptcy protection. Add that with the increased scrutiny of Russian and other foreign monies filling NRA pockets. Also, given the fact NY has banned the NRA, they are feeling the heat, and rightfully so.

It's hard for me to believe they would simply not exist anymore. They very well could be trying to manipulate the public and trying to gain sympathy for their fight with NY.

They need to be replaced with a real gun advocacy group for responsible gun owners. But gun nuts are so brainwashed, the NRA would have them thinking that any other orginization would be some liberal kind of bullshit, created by the jews, with a hidden agenda to ban guns.
