you guys take the test? what do you think about the results? for me some stuff is 100%, some stuff isn't. however the basic 'way I think' and 'my understandings' are 100% spot on...

I first took the Myers-Briggs test in college and I was an INTJ then too. I'll never forget this because our lecture class had a few hundred people in it and when our results came back our professor named off each of the 16 personality types and told everyone in each group to stand up when he called it out. INTJ was last and I stood up with 3 other people and he said "Congratulations you are the rarest personality type.." blah blah blah I was really embarrassed and all I can remember is the first few words of what he said.

If I could choose I'd want to be an extrovert they seem to have a lot more exciting life.

One thing about these tests, and personality types, each personality type has a lot of negatives and a lot of positives so being the most common or the most rare means nothing as far as ranking a person's value in society.

right on. I'm not discounting your experience btw.

I tend to agree with others that it's a pigeonhole test and that there are way more than 16 personality types.

even though I had more belief in Jungian psychology than Freudian when I was studying it. The test forces everyone into the 16 archetypes in an unnatural way.

the test has been debunked over the years, as has Jungian psych, generally we are in the post-Jungian era of psychology now.

Interesting , I'm INTJ too, not that I really know, but according to this online test that was my result.

Personality test based on C. Jung and I. Briggs Myers type theory

So I took this test and got INTP-a

There are far more than 16 different personality type degrees than their are personality types as each preference is on a scale. One person can be a 50% Introvert preference, another can be an 80% Introvert preference, etc.

I'm not arguing for Myers-Briggs over something else just saying it's a good structural start of a psychological descriptor of a given person at a given time.

On their site they say Myers-Briggs is not supposed to be used as a predictor, but as a descriptor. This is where a lot of the problem is with outside sources saying if you have personality type A you're destined to be A, B, C. That's where the fortune cookie crap comes in. Lame

When Myers-Briggs has come up on GFY now and again through the years it seems more than average board members are in the INT* preference and when you think about it this makes complete sense as Introversion (I), Intuition (N), Thinking (T) type people would congregate online, on a board, discussing things in depth like we do.

I think you're too smart to be schizophrenic but then again Vincent van Gogh and the famous mathematician John Nash were schizophrenic so you'd be in good company

that's just one of the fundamental flaws in all personality tests btw, and psychology in general when you think about it. I tend to think m-b is fully flawed. psychology is not science unfortunately.

It's in mans nature to categorize things into tiny narrow boxes.

I think AI can help us understand ourselves a lot better. As I'm typing this response the AI engine on my phone is predicting which word I'm going to type next and giving me the option to select it.

Some day, based on thousands of responses I type, I should be able to have multiple sentences to choose in advance of a response to posts on all subject types. Technology is giving us a very interesting future because our advanced present day technology is setting the groundwork for a solid powerful path to an unknown future that seems to involve the inevitable Technological Singularity.

yes yes. human nature, I understand. my main issue with "assessments" like these is they require the test taker to make a personal assessment of their self to begin with, which the test then assesses. I'm sure you can see the big issue with that. maybe ai can sort it out but it depends on the algos. if they're biased with psych theory and/or assumptions, garbage out.

what's interesting about myers briggs is that the system was NOT developed by phycologist or any educated professionals. the system was developed by and mother and her daughter from watching children grow up.

and phycology is not a science.. really... lol!!! buy any cheerios lately lol!!

AND extrovert / introvert does NOT refer to likening to dance or not.. it's how you gather your thoughts and set your priorities… extroverts use conversations and exchange of thoughts with others to form a goal and set directions. introverts seek answers internally, I am inner directed. I make all the decisions in my life from looking into my 'spirit'. I am not a social person although I can be social when I need to be, just a role to play or a job to do... no big deal..

yes, a mother and daughter selling team who use the test to sell merch.

yes, psychology is not science "because psychology often does not meet the five basic requirements for a field to be considered scientifically rigorous: clearly defined terminology, quantifiability, highly controlled experimental conditions, reproducibility and, finally, predictability and testability".

Would a complete record of online activity be the most pure, unbiased, 3rd person observer of ones true personality type? What someone types when "unaware" they're being monitored & indexed, where they go, what they do there, what they search for, what they do after watching, hearing or reading something.

Is it possible that we are less complex then we are led to believe?

ftr, I'm all for studying the human mind, it's important hard work. but dangerous and imprecise.

but as you pointed out in your op, the test simply reconfirmed what you already thought, mostly because the test requires self-answers. it reconfirmed your original view of yourself based on the data you gave it. of course.

maybe, maybe not.... what the test did was allow me to be okay with my oddness... the test did not confirm anything but gave me another way evaluate my situations and circumstances. I am not a normal person and NEVER have been … in fact I reject much of my humanity.

I spend the majority of my time alone and at this time no longer have any close friends. I really don't mind at all... in fact I don't think these guys were really my friends in the first place... they just wanted access to my life and circumstances...

for instance I can run all my thoughts backward like a video and understand why I think the things I do. why I got the idea etc...and I can go pretty much all the way back to the earliest stuff...

I remember almost everything in a weird way and can pull information and facts from across over 50 years of thinking, seeing and listening to form opinions.

I can run my thoughts backward and change the emotions I felt at the time and go forward with a more optimistic future and I clean up all the shame from my past. I came across an picture of me at 12, stoned on heroin….

I had to go back though all my memories until I got to that kid and I rewrote 'his feelings of shame and hopelessness' to a more positive outlook, thus changing my present and future situations. it was difficult as hell, took almost 2 weeks prayer and mediation to make the change and the 'drama' of it all almost killed me.

my career has been 'systems' and understanding systems from production to computer networks to editing to lighting.... I have been lighting almost 40 years... does not plex me at all.

my thing now is god… I am really fucking smart, I am INTJ and I have been thinking about god since my first awareness of god 58 years ago. and for me to say I felt god and knew god at 5 years old is 'anti politically correct' were I to say I felt like a woman at 5, not a boy, that would be perfectly acceptable, right? and you guys would be cheering me on to cut my dick off... it's okay to surgically turn yourself into a freak with serious heath issue the rest of your life but to open your heart to god... fuck that.. fuck god... lol!!

here is how I choose to view the world. all good and positive opportunity come from god. all negativity resides in the heart of man. when you love someone.... that love is placed between you by god for you to share with another person..... what happens then? does your 'humanity' come forward with jealousy and insecurities and fears and selfness, doubt and lack of trust.... were you both to place your trust in god and love and honor each other might not the results be different? and you know what? I don't give one fuck what you think about what 'I KNOW TO BE TRUE WITH OUT A DOUBT' and that my friend is PURE INTJ to the fucking MAX. lol!!

so did being an INTJ make this all possible... what the test did was allow me to accept some stuff about me that no one else will accept about me, and understand stuff that no one else understands... and that's a good thing.

and you and your test? and you are still hooked like a fish on the 'SALES machine' that doesn't work because phycology is bullshit lol!!

it appears I might have come across unintended grapesoda.

you had asked for people's thoughts on the test and i gave mine, i took the test decades ago and couldn't really recall my results, I'm confident I got at least an A- on it though.

Love the mainstream money I can make in MBu all the rich parents want their over 18+ teens to be a star!

You can shoot this for $55k profit in 6 days

And that job can lead to this job 2 weeks later for $98k profit in 5 days

Great mainstream money to be made.

Here are some outtakes. Good times

INTJ here

I feel recharged when I'm alone with my thoughts.

Oftentimes, when people talk, I mentally diagram their logic (or lack thereof).

you had asked for people's thoughts on the test and i gave mine, i took the test decades ago and couldn't really recall my results, I'm confident I got at least an A- on it though.
I am curious about the test though

AND extrovert / introvert does NOT refer to likening to dance or not.. it's how you gather your thoughts and set your priorities… extroverts use conversations and exchange of thoughts with others to form a goal and set directions. introverts seek answers internally, I am inner directed. I make all the decisions in my life from looking into my 'spirit'. I am not a social person although I can be social when I need to be, just a role to play or a job to do... no big deal..
You are a strange bird

Anyone else go through periods of being a hermit? INTJ

I am an INTJ, I have Asperger's and I am a psychopath. Do I have the worst combination ever?

so you prefer to be a cunt... okay... BTW us metaphysis types don't accept linear time like you do. this is how I can adjust the emotional past to a better spiritual future. you are actually my best friend yet you have not arrived there in linear time yet. but do not worry you have 100% of my attention now, when I look to you that is. this is going to be really interesting and a lot of fun... I'm going to learn some amazing stuff.... lol!!! now you, learn or stagnate or revert?
